Genuine Dresser replacement gaskets for Style 38, 40 and 138 couplings, repair clamps, split sleeves and compression fittings: Grade 27, Grade 42, Viton, EPDM-rated and high-temperature graphite.

The gasket is what seals a Dresser coupling, clamp or sleeve, and its grade decides what the joint can carry and how hot it can run. Dresser molds each grade in its own rubber compound and marks it with a color code, so the grade can be read on the gasket. This collection holds Dresser replacement gaskets for couplings (Grade 27 Buna-S, Grade 42 Buna-N, armored versions of both, Viton Grade 224, Grade 365 graphite, pinned armored, STAB and Style 138), for repair clamps and split sleeves (Styles 4, 41, 54, 60, 73, 77, 80, 96, 126 and 160), and gasket sets for Style 65 and 90 compression fittings.
Gaskets are sized to a coupling style and pipe OD. Every variant ends with the Dresser part number. Call 1-888.510.4036 or email sales@watermainsupply.com. Genuine Dresser equipment, factory-new in original packaging — sold and supported by Watermain Supply, an independent industrial supplier.
The standard gasket: water, sewage, natural gas and general service, to 212°F. White mold code. NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 for drinking water.
Nitrile for oil, petroleum and hydrocarbon service, to 212°F. Yellow mold code.
Viton Grade 224 handles hydrocarbons, alcohols and acids to 350°F at 100 PSI max. Grade 365 graphite runs to 1,200°F with no pressure rating. In Style 65, 88 and 90 compression fittings every grade is limited to 150°F.
Send the pipe OD, pipe material and line content. We confirm the part number before you order. 1-888.510.4036 · sales@watermainsupply.com
The three grades most buyers need.

1/2 in to 24 in
Plain wedge gaskets for Style 38 and 40 couplings: the default for water, sewer and gas lines.

Nitrile wedge gaskets for Style 38 and 40 couplings where oil or hydrocarbons would swell standard rubber.

1 in to 24 in
Fluorocarbon wedge gaskets for lines carrying hydrocarbons, aromatics, alcohols and acids, and for heat beyond nitrile.

Gaskets are made to fit one manufacturer's coupling geometry, so replace a Dresser gasket with a Dresser gasket. For Smith-Blair couplings, send us the style and pipe OD and we quote the matching Smith-Blair gasket.
| Line content or condition | Grade | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Drinking water, sewage, natural gas | 27 Buna-S | White code, 212°F |
| Oil, fuel, petroleum products | 42 Buna-N | Yellow code, 212°F |
| Hot water, steam, ozone exposure | EPDM 199 | Dresser rates 300°F, 250 PSI; ask us |
| Hydrocarbons, aromatics, alcohols, acids | Viton 224 | 350°F, 100 PSI max |
| Very high temperature, abrasive | 365 graphite | 1,200°F, no pressure rating |
| Joint must carry CP current | Armored 27 or 42 | Brass coil bites into the pipe |
| Compression fittings 65, 88, 90 | By fitting | All grades limited to 150°F |
Each gasket fits one Dresser style and one pipe OD. Read the style from the coupling or the old part number and measure the pipe OD with a pi tape.
Dresser marks each grade with a paint code: white for 27, yellow for 42, dark green for 41, light gray for EPDM and brown or tan for Viton. Match the code when replacing a gasket in service.
A brass coil molded into the gasket tip bites into the pipe for metal-to-metal contact, so cathodic protection current passes the joint. Use them where the line must stay electrically continuous.
Dresser rubber can last well beyond five years when kept cool, dark and away from ozone, with storage below 80°F. Keep gaskets in their bags, flat, with nothing stacked on them.
Grade is marked on every gasket.
Grade 27 meets NSF/ANSI 61 and 372.
Brass coil passes CP current.
Viton to 350°F, graphite to 1,200°F.
Molded to Dresser coupling geometry.
Every variant ends with the Dresser part number.
