Four Series, One System
Each fitting series targets a specific pipe material and service condition. The correct series is determined by pipe OD standard — not nominal size alone.
65Steel IPS
Style 65 — Compression Fitting
The workhorse small-bore coupling for steel IPS pipe. Available in regular and long body lengths from 1/2" through 2". Zinc dichromate body with Buna-N gasket. NSF/ANSI 61 listed for potable water.
Steel IPS1/2"–2"NSF 61
88Brass
Style 88 — Brass Fitting
All-brass body and follower ring for corrosion-resistant service connections. Suitable for natural gas service laterals, potable water, and applications where ferrous material is prohibited or not desired.
Brass BodyGas & WaterNon-Ferrous
90Universal
Style 90 — Compression Fitting
Designed for copper tube (CTS OD) service lines. Stab-type or bolt-type follower depending on size. Used extensively at meter sets where the utility side is steel and the customer side is copper.
Copper CTSMeter Sets1/2"–2"
90UDual OD
Style 90 Universal — Compression Fitting
Accepts either IPS OD or CTS OD within the same body. Eliminates the need to stock separate IPS and CTS fittings for service work on mixed pipe systems — one part number for two pipe standards.

Regular vs Long Body — When It Matters
Both regular and long body Style 65 fittings use the same sealing system. The difference is engagement length and stocking philosophy.
Size Regular OD Regular Wt Long Body Wt
1/2" 0.840" 0.54 lb 1.40 lb
3/4" 1.050" 0.65 lb 0.91 lb
1" 1.315" 0.97 lb 1.27 lb
1-1/4" 1.660" 1.35 lb 1.75 lb
1-1/2" 1.900" 1.75 lb 2.17 lb
2" 2.375" 2.60 lb 3.25 lb
When to Specify Long Body

Long body Style 65 is preferred for older galvanized steel service lines where pipe OD may be irregular from scale buildup or corrosion. The additional sleeve length improves centering and sealing on out-of-round pipe.

Insulating Gasket Adapters Available

Style 65 insulating adapter gaskets (3065 series) are stocked for all sizes 1/2" through 2". Required wherever cathodic protection systems require electrical isolation at the service connection.

Style 90 & 90 Universal
Copper Service Line Connections
Copper type K tubing is the dominant service line material installed over the past 60 years. Style 90 and 90 Universal were built specifically for it.
Style 90 vs Style 90 Universal
90
Copper CTS Dedicated
Specify when you know the pipe is copper CTS and want the optimized bore and follower for that OD. Cleaner fit, lower profile.
90U
Dual OD — IPS + CTS
Specify for service trucks and field kits. One part number handles both steel IPS and copper CTS. Reduces inventory and eliminates "wrong coupling" jobsite errors.
Critical OD Reminder

1" copper Type K CTS OD = 1.125" versus 1" steel IPS OD = 1.315". These are NOT interchangeable. Always verify pipe OD with calipers before specifying.

Nominal Steel IPS OD Copper CTS OD Difference
1/2" 0.840" 0.625" 0.215"
3/4" 1.050" 0.875" 0.175"
1" 1.315" 1.125" 0.190"
1-1/4" 1.660" 1.375" 0.285"
1-1/2" 1.900" 1.625" 0.275"
2" 2.375" 2.125" 0.250"
Style 88
All-Brass for Non-Ferrous Applications
Brass body, brass follower ring — no iron in contact with the flow stream. Required by some utilities for natural gas service laterals and copper water service installations.
🔩
Natural Gas Laterals
Many gas utilities specify brass or plastic-bodied fittings for service connections to avoid galvanic issues at the PE/steel transition.
Style 88 Preferred
🏠
Potable Water Service
NSF-listed brass body eliminates any concern about ferrous contamination at meter connections or service line laterals.
NSF Compliant
⚗️
Corrosive Soil Environments
In soils with high electrical conductivity or chloride content, an all-brass fitting body outlasts zinc dichromate-coated ferrous alternatives.
