Which A.Y. McDonald pump do I need for a drilled well?
For a 4 in or larger drilled well, a Baker 4 in submersible is the usual choice: pick the flow class (5 to 80 GPM) for the GPM you need, then the horsepower that gives enough head at that flow. Wells with water within about 25 ft can use a shallow-well jet pump; deeper wells with a 2 in or 4 in casing can use a convertible or multi-stage jet with a deep-well ejector. Our Submersible Well Pump and Well & Irrigation Pump calculators do this math for you.
What warranty comes with A.Y. McDonald pumps?
The standard A.Y. McDonald term is 1 year from installation or 2 years from manufacture, whichever comes first. DuraMAC Residential, Light Commercial and the Variable Speed booster carry 3 years from installation. Assembled Baker submersible pumps carry 5 years from manufacture in potable water up to 25 GPM and 3 years up to 80 GPM, and Baker submersible motors 3 years. Each listing states the exact term for that model.
Are A.Y. McDonald jet pumps safe for drinking water?
Yes. The A.Y. McDonald jet pumps and the 27000 Super Booster we list are certified to NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF/ANSI 372. The Workhorse, 8600SW and 89000 are rated for non-potable use: irrigation, transfer and lawn sprinkling.
What is the difference between a DuraMAC booster and an IQ1000 system?
DuraMAC Residential, Light Commercial and E-Series boosters are packaged single-pump systems for homes and small buildings, 20 to 35 GPM. The IQ1000 and Micro systems are vertical multistage pumps on variable speed drives, in simplex, duplex and triplex skids, for commercial buildings up to 420 GPM and 150 PSI of boost.
Do you sell Baker pump ends, motors and control boxes separately?
Yes. We list Baker 4 in pump ends, 6 in to 10 in stainless steel pump ends to 1,100 GPM, 4 in to 10 in submersible motors, standard and deluxe control boxes, starter kits and the AutoDRIVE variable frequency drive, so you can replace one part instead of the whole pump.
What is an AutoPAC?
AutoPAC is the Pumps by Baker constant pressure package: a Baker 4 in submersible pump and motor matched with the AutoDRIVE variable frequency drive and a pressure switch or transducer. The drive varies motor speed to hold a steady pressure as household demand changes.
Can you help me size a booster pump for my building?
Yes. Send us the number of floors, fixture counts or peak GPM, and your incoming pressure. Our engineering-led sizing checks the duty point against the manufacturer curve before anything ships. You can also run the Booster Pump Sizing Calculator first.
Which A.Y. McDonald pumps handle sewage and effluent?
The DuraMAC and A.Y. McDonald wastewater line covers sump pumps, effluent and high-head effluent pumps, sewage ejector pumps, a cast iron grinder pump, battery backup sump systems and portable dewatering pumps. Use our Sump, Sewage and Dewatering Pump Sizing Calculator to find the duty point first.
Do you carry repair parts for older A.Y. McDonald pumps?
We list repair parts for the 1000/1500, 8000, 8100/8200, 8300, 8500/8600, 84000, 89000, 92000/93000, 27000, 303022 and DuraMAC booster families, including impeller and diffuser kits, seals, motors and ejectors. Parts dropped from the current A.Y. McDonald price list are marked discontinued on each listing.
