Baker Manufacturing began building water-system components in Evansville, Wisconsin in 1873 and developed the first pitless unit — the below-frost fitting that lets a submersible pump be pulled without disturbing the well piping. That heritage runs through every Monitor product Watermain Supply stocks today.
The Monitor residential line covers the complete domestic and rural well head: well caps that seal and protect the casing, cap cable seals and snorkel vents that keep the well breathing and flood-safe, pitless adapters and pitless units that make the sanitary below-frost service connection, tank tees and pipe fittings that tie the system to the pressure tank, and at-the-well controls and pressure switches that run it. For older and off-grid systems, Monitor still builds cast-iron hand pumps, drinking fountain pumps, cylinders, flanges, and pump rods, and frost-proof yard hydrants.
Monitor water-passage products are made in the USA, certified to NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 for potable-water contact and lead-free content, and conform to Water Systems Council PAS-97 (2017). Manufacturing is ISO 9001:2015 certified, and many products are available AIS / BABA compliant by request for projects with domestic-content requirements. Watermain Supply pairs the hardware with engineering-led selection so the cap, adapter, pitless unit, or hydrant that ships is matched to your casing size, bury depth, and duty.

When a submersible pump cable passes through a Monitor Premium Watertight cap, the cap cable seal closes the gap around the cable so the cap stays watertight. Each seal is matched to a range of cable outside diameter and the conductor gauges that fall in that range, for four-wire twisted plastic submersible cable.
Size the seal to the measured cable O.D. rather than wire gauge alone. For 4 in to 8 in Monitor Premium Watertight caps.
| Product | Function | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Cap Cable Seals | Seals pump cable through a watertight cap | Cable O.D. 0.125 in to 0.437 in |
In low-lying areas where spring rain and flooding can submerge the well head, the Monitor Snorkel Well Vent raises the vent opening on a length of 1-1/4 in NPT pipe and, used with a Premium Watertight cap and cap cable seals, keeps the vent sealed against up to 20 ft of standing water.
Buy the vent on its own to add to an existing watertight cap, or as a complete snorkel vent and cap kit sized to your casing. Certified for 10 State Code, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
| Product | Protection | Fit / Approvals |
|---|---|---|
| Snorkel Well Vent | Flood protection to 20 ft of water | 1-1/4 in NPT; 10 State Code, MI, WI |

A pitless adapter carries water out through the side of the casing below the frost line while the drop pipe and submersible pump hang inside the well — a sanitary, freeze-proof service connection that needs no pit or pump house. Monitor offers the quick-set Snappy in galvanized cast iron, the Bulldog and precision brass slide types in lead-free red brass, a stainless steel slide type, and no-pit E-Z weld-on and clamp-on adapters.
All cast parts are lead-free and conform to NSF/ANSI 372 and Water Systems Council PAS-97 (2017), with safe loads from 1,000 lb to 6,000 lb depending on model. Pressurized and at-the-well-tapped versions are offered where local code (Illinois, Michigan) requires. Select by well inside diameter and drop-pipe size.

A tank tee is the manifold between the pump discharge and the pressure tank, carrying the ports for the pressure switch, gauge, relief valve, and drain. Monitor Break-A-Way tank tees are machined from lead-free red brass with Type L copper tube and stainless lock screws, in 1 in and 1-1/4 in sizes with several port configurations and end connections.
The Pump Control Tank Tee is the flexible option — it can be located anywhere in the piping so the switch and gauge move above the floor, and it adapts to almost any 1 in discharge tank. All conform to NSF/ANSI 372. Choose the pipe size, port configuration, and end connection to match your tank and switch.
| Product | Ports | Material / Standard |

The pitless unit is Monitor’s original invention: a watertight extension of the well casing that makes the service connection below the frost line and lets the entire inner assembly — and the submersible pump — lift out for service without disturbing external piping. The spool design and patented O-ring seal protection keep the seal safe during installation.
PS units come in threaded and slip-on Kwikonect styles for 4 in, 5 in, and 6 in wells at 0 ft to 8 ft bury; a pressurized Kwikonect version meets Illinois code; PJ units serve shallow- and deep-well jet systems on concentric piping; and the DQ kit ships less upper casing for fast field assembly. All conform to PAS-97 (2017). Units are supplied without check valves, less cap — order the matching well cap alongside. Send us the well size and bury depth and we size it.

For deep-well jet systems that run concentric piping, Monitor makes the fittings that terminate and route the pipe near the pump. The Concentric Seal Cross ends the concentric run with two built-in tappings that eliminate at least one large tee, and the Concentric Ball Elbow raises the pipe terminal to a set elevation above the floor.
Select by pressure-pipe size and, for the seal cross, the suction-pipe seal size.
| Product | Function | Pipe Size |
|---|---|---|
| Concentric Seal Cross | Terminates concentric piping with two tappings | 2 in pressure pipe, 1 in / 1-1/4 in suction |
| Concentric Ball Elbow | Raises the concentric pipe terminal | 2 in / 2-1/2 in pressure pipe |
Monitor still builds the rugged cast-iron hand pumps that made the name — lift stands for shallow wells under 25 ft and force stands with a surge chamber and adjustable stroke for depths to 200 ft, in syphon- or bibb-spout patterns with optional 2 in drop-pipe tapping and sanitary shrouds. The drinking fountain pump serves golf courses, campgrounds, and roadside parks, and the hand pump diverter refills a storage tank by hand with no electricity.
Pair a hand pump with the matching cylinder, flange, and pump rod below, plus the accessory adapters and screen kits. Ideal for off-grid, backup, and emergency water supply.
| Product | Type | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Hand Pump Stand | Cast-iron lift and force pumps, to 200 ft | Syphon or bibb spout, adjustable stroke |
| Drinking Fountain Pump | Cast-iron fountain pump for parks and camps | Flange-mount or direct-mount base |

| Hand & Fountain Pump Accessories | Adapters, screen kits, fountain components | For Monitor hand and fountain pumps |
These are the working parts of a hand-pump system. The cylinder is the all-brass, leather-plunger assembly that goes down the well below the water table; the pump flange stabilizes the pump stand on the casing, in standard, sealed, and vermin-resistant offset styles; and the pump rod (sucker rod) is the mechanical link between the pump lever and the plunger.
Cylinders are threaded 1-1/4 in NPT and conform to NSF/ANSI 372. Size the cylinder to your flow and depth, the flange to your casing inside diameter, and order enough pump rod to set the cylinder 15 ft to 20 ft below water plus a coupling.
| Product | Build | Detail / Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Hand Pump Cylinder | All-brass, brass check valve, leather plungers | 1-3/8 in to 3 in I.D.; 1-1/4 in NPT; NSF/ANSI 372 |
| Hand Pump Flange | Standard, sealed, and offset sealed | 1 in to 6 in; stabilizes pump on casing |
| Pump Rod | 7/16 in plated rod, threaded both ends | 7 ft; connects pump to cylinder plunger |
A frost-proof yard hydrant delivers water outdoors year-round by draining below the frost line each time it closes, so the standpipe can’t freeze. The Monitor Magnum uses a balanced spool-valve design — no packing nut, valve rod, or linkage to adjust — with a corrosion-resistant brass valve body, an acetal spool, and a 3/4 in Sch. 80 PVC wet pipe, flowing over 25 GPM at a 4 ft bury and 30 psi.
Choose the cast iron head or the stainless steel standpipe version, in bury depths from 1 ft to 11 ft, with lead-free options conforming to NSF/ANSI 372. Routine service is just the three standard O-rings. Select bury depth to your local frost line.
| Product | Design | Bury / Options |
|---|---|---|
| Magnum Frost Proof Yard Hydrant | Balanced spool valve, cast-iron head, over 25 GPM | 1 ft to 11 ft bury; standard or lead-free |
| Magnum Stainless Steel Frost Proof Yard Hydrant | 1-1/2 in stainless stand pipe, brass valve body | 1 ft to 11 ft bury; standard or lead-free |
An at-the-well control kit places the pressure switch and controls inside the well casing, so an entire automatic water system can be installed at the well head with minimal wire and piping. Monitor offers plug-in kits for submersible and for reciprocating-plus-submersible pumps, and a one-size screw-in kit, each available with an all-weather pressure switch or without.
Kits are sized to the pitless-unit bury depth and rated to 120 psi maximum; they conform to NSF/ANSI 372. A pressure relief valve is recommended on all installations, and the matching control fluid is stocked.

Most Monitor products are chosen from a few field measurements. Send us these and we return an engineering-led selection matched to your well.
1. Casing size and type. The casing outside diameter picks the well cap and aluminum-cap size; the inside diameter and material (steel or PVC) pick the pitless adapter and hand-pump flange. Measure it.
2. Bury depth to the frost line. The distance from grade down to the pitless-unit connection sets the pitless-unit and at-the-well control length, and the yard-hydrant bury depth. Deeper frost lines need a deeper bury.
3. Drop pipe and cable size. Drop-pipe diameter (1 in or 1-1/4 in) selects the pitless adapter; the submersible cable outside diameter selects the cap cable seal.
4. Pump type and duty. Submersible, jet, or reciprocating; the flow and pressure you need; and the tank and switch settings — these confirm the control kit, pressure switch, and tank tee.
A matched selection — cap, adapter, pitless unit, hydrant, or hand-pump set — confirmed against Baker Water Systems published data for your casing, bury depth, and duty. We don’t commit a final model until it’s verified for your numbers.
Sizes, bury depths, and ratings shown across this page are drawn from Baker Water Systems literature and are nominal — they vary by model and configuration. Watermain Supply provides engineering-led sizing and selection; the final model, bury depth, and duty are confirmed against Monitor published data before you order.
