The US baseline is NSF/ANSI 61 — solid, but it primarily governs which materials are permissible. It does not mandate the engineering margins, thermal performance protocols, or failure-mode testing that Australian standards require.

Davey specifies IP55 ingress protection — full dust exclusion and water jet resistance. Most US-market pumps carry IP44 or no IP rating.
