Davey BIT Cistern Series Booster Pump

The BIT is the cistern-supply member of the Davey Torrium2 booster range, offered as the BIT14-30, BIT14-45 and BIT20-30. Like the BT it carries the Torrium2 controller, which senses pressure and flow together so the pump runs while water is drawn and stops when it is not, without a pressure switch or a pressure tank in the installation.

It suits rainwater tanks, cisterns and stored-water supply where the source arrives at little or no pressure, and installations where the supply may be interrupted — the case Torrium2’s dry-run protection and automatic restart exist for.

The BIT is supplied as a single pump with its controller. Davey does not publish a paired configuration for this series.

Where the installation may need a second pump, the drive-controlled models pair. The EvoDrive runs two units in duty/standby or parallel and draws from a below-ground tank to 13 ft of lift; the DynaDrive daisy-chains two pumps and carries its own tank.

Constant flow operation — Torrium2 senses pressure and flow together. It starts on a pressure drop and stops when flow falls below 0.26 gpm, which is what removes the cycling a pressure switch gives you in the shower.

Adaptive cut-in pressure — Cut-in is set to 80 percent of the last shut-off head, every stop. The controller follows seasonal supply variation and changing demand without anyone adjusting it.

Low head loss — Large internal water pathways mean Torrium2 costs less head than comparable pressure controllers, so more of what the pump makes reaches the fixture.

Adjustable setting range — Settable from 15 psi to 80 psi.

No pressure tank required — The controller replaces the pressure switch and tank in a conventional booster installation.

Reading the model number: the two figures are flow at nominal pressure, the same convention Davey uses across the Torrium2 booster range.

The figures below are the pressure this pump adds. That is what a pump curve measures — the impeller does not know what pressure is already on its inlet.

BIT14-30 — 14 gpm at 30 psi nominal, 40 psi maximum boost

BIT14-45 — 14 gpm at 45 psi nominal, 60 psi maximum boost

BIT20-30 — 20 gpm at 30 psi nominal, 50 psi maximum boost

Zero flow is the shut-off point — a ceiling, not a working point. Maximum boost and the nominal duty point are Davey’s own figures from the BIT Series datasheet DWP0727-5/0625; the intermediate points are read from Davey’s published graph and rounded down where uncertain. Convert psi to head by dividing by 0.433.

This system has no app or remote connectivity. It runs from the Torrium2 controller and needs no network connection.
