Common questions from landfill operators, environmental engineers and remediation contractors.
What is the Watermain Supply PR4?
A 4 in pollution recovery pump assembled from a Grundfos SP stainless pump end refitted with Teflon (PTFE) bearings, a Franklin Electric 4 in Pollution Recovery motor and a continuous chemical-resistant lead. It ships assembled for landfill leachate, groundwater recovery and remediation wells.
Which lead should I choose?
CPE-XLPE for leachate and general groundwater with dissolved contaminants. HiLo for oils, solvents and chemicals in water. Teflon (FEP) for free product, chlorinated solvents and the most aggressive chemistry. Every lead is one continuous run with a stainless jam-nut plug and a Viton bushing.
How much head does the Teflon refit cost?
Cuvo's refit performance data shows 10 to 15% less head than a standard SP pump end. Every head figure we publish for the PR4 is already cut by 15% and rounded down, so size from our tables and curves, not the standard Grundfos curve.
What warranty comes with a PR4?
30 days from purchase on the assembled package, from Watermain Supply. The refit and the non-Franklin continuous lead modify the factory build, so the original Grundfos and Franklin warranties do not apply.
Do I need a control box or a drive?
Single-phase 2-wire builds need neither. Single-phase 3-wire builds need a Franklin 3-wire control box. Three-phase builds need a magnetic starter with quick-trip overloads, or a drive such as the Franklin X-Drive SUB panel for level control.
Can the PR4 go in a side-slope riser?
Yes, in the PR4 stainless wheeled shroud. It is built to the length of your PR4 model with the wheels set for your riser I.D.: 12, 18, 24 or 30 in, other sizes quoted.
How hot can the liquid be?
Franklin rates the Pollution Recovery motor for continuous duty in water up to 86 F (30 C) with no flow sleeve. For warmer leachate, send us the temperature and we size a flow sleeve or shroud and check Franklin's derating.
What is the PR4-E?
The PR4-E is the PR4 built on a genuine Grundfos Redi-Flo4 environmental pump end, with Teflon bearings and seals from the factory, instead of a Teflon-refitted SP pump end. It covers 5 to 25 GPM at 1/2 to 1-1/2 HP, uses Grundfos's published curves with no derate, and is the direct replacement for Redi-Flo4 pumps.
How fast does a PR4 ship?
Normal lead time is 3-4 days after receipt of order. Add Expedite Service - 24 hr to the order and it ships the next business day.
What if my setting is deeper than 150 ft?
The standard leads are 100 ft and 150 ft. Deeper settings or long runs to the controls get a longer lead quoted per foot, or a splice made above the well, out of the contaminated zone.
