Overview
The PR4 is our 4 in pollution recovery pump, built for wells where a standard water-well pump fails early. Every PR4 starts with a Grundfos SP multistage pump end in AISI 304 stainless steel, refitted with Teflon (PTFE) bearings for chemical service. It is mounted on a Franklin Electric 4 in Pollution Recovery motor with Viton rubber parts and an all stainless exterior, and wired with one continuous lead in the jacket you choose. This listing covers the 16 to 35 GPM classes (16S, 25S, 35S) from 1/2 to 2 HP for landfill leachate wells and sumps, groundwater recovery and remediation pumping.
-
Teflon refit as standard. The pump end's rubber bearings are replaced with PTFE, which stands up to hydrocarbons and solvents that swell and break down NBR.
-
Continuous lead included. Choose CPE-XLPE, HiLo or Teflon (FEP), 100 ft or 150 ft, in one run from the motor with a stainless jam-nut plug and Viton bushing. No splice in the well.
-
Built for contaminated wells. Franklin's Pollution Recovery motor uses Viton rubber parts, hermetically sealed windings and a stainless splined shaft, rated continuous to 86°F with no flow sleeve.
-
Assembled and ready to set. Pump end, motor and lead ship as one unit at no assembly charge.
-
Sized and supported in Houston. We check your duty point, setting depth and liquid before you order.
What Ships and What It Needs to Run
Included, assembled: the Teflon-refitted Grundfos SP pump end, the Franklin Electric 4 in Pollution Recovery motor matched by horsepower, and the continuous lead in the jacket and length you select. 2-wire motors get a 2-conductor plus ground lead; 3-wire and three-phase motors get 3-conductor plus ground. All 12 AWG.
Lead time: normal lead time is 3-4 days after receipt of order. For next-day shipping, add Expedite Service - 24 hr to the order.
Single-phase 3-wire builds: control box required, ordered separately. Use the Franklin 3-wire QD control box matched to the motor horsepower and voltage. 2-wire builds need no control box.
Three-phase builds: starter or drive required, ordered separately. A magnetic starter with quick-trip overloads, or a drive such as the Franklin X-Drive SUB panel for level control.
Side-slope risers and sumps: wheeled shroud, ordered separately. The PR4 stainless wheeled shroud is built to the length of your PR4 model with the wheels set for your riser I.D. Add it with the pump.
Longer leads, drop pipe and safety cable: sized to your well and quoted or ordered separately.
Built from genuine, factory-new Grundfos and Franklin Electric components, refitted and assembled for Watermain Supply, an independent industrial supplier.
Warranty
30 days from purchase on the assembled package, from Watermain Supply. The PR4 is modified from the factory build (Teflon refit and a non-Franklin continuous lead), so it is covered by our package warranty rather than the original Grundfos and Franklin warranties.

Models & Performance — Will It Do What You Need?
Teflon-fitted head, already derated. Each table reads like the curve: the head the pump adds at shut-off, along its curve and at its rated flow, out to the end of the curve. Pick a model whose head at your flow covers the lift from the pumping level, the pressure you need at the discharge (2.31 ft per psi) and friction in the drop pipe.

Total head in feet, Teflon-fitted. Cuvo's refit performance data shows Teflon-fitted SP pump ends delivering 10 to 15% less head than the standard build; every figure here is the Grundfos 60 Hz curve value cut by 15% and rounded down, so the table is the conservative case. Flow points are the Grundfos 60 Hz curve points; the motor is 60 Hz, 2-pole (3,450 rpm). 1 ft of head = 0.433 PSI. Derated class curves are in the product images; the standard Grundfos curves are on the Data Sheet tab.
Before You Buy — The Limits That Decide the Fit
| Check |
What to confirm |
| Liquid temperature |
Franklin rates the motor continuous in water up to 86°F (30°C) with no flow sleeve. For warmer leachate, send us the temperature: we size a flow sleeve or shroud and check Franklin's derating before you order. |
| Liquid chemistry |
The Teflon refit and Viton motor parts suit leachate, dissolved hydrocarbons and most solvents. Pick the lead to the chemistry: CPE-XLPE for leachate and general groundwater, HiLo for oils and solvents, Teflon (FEP) for free product and chlorinated solvents. |
| Head |
Size from the derated table above, not the standard Grundfos curve. |
| Setting depth |
The lead is 100 ft or 150 ft. Deeper settings, or a long run from the wellhead to the controls, need a longer lead or a splice above the well: ask us. |
| Well or riser |
4 in minimum I.D. Side-slope risers and horizontal sumps take the pump in a PR4 wheeled shroud, ordered separately. |
| Submergence and sand |
2 ft minimum and 50 ppm sand (16S, 25S); 5 ft minimum and 150 ppm sand (35S). |
| Classified areas |
The pump runs submerged in the well; the wellhead, junction box and controls in a classified area are specified by the site engineer. |
Installation Notes
- Connect all metal plumbing, and the motor if it sits outside a drilled well, to the power supply grounding terminal with wire no smaller than the motor lead conductors.
- The lead runs continuous from the motor to the surface; make any splice above the well, out of the contaminated zone.
- Three-phase motors are electrically reversible: check rotation at start-up.
- Single-phase 2-wire motors start from integral components with Franklin's BIAC switch; 3-wire motors need the Franklin QD control box.
- Hang the pump from a stainless safety cable, not the lead.
From the Franklin Electric 4 in Pollution Recovery Submersible Motors bulletin and Franklin's AIM manual.

- Landfill leachate extraction wells and leachate sumps
- Groundwater recovery and pump-and-treat remediation
- Monitoring and recovery wells where hydrocarbons or other chemicals may be present
