Davey Torrium 2 Water Pressure Controller

Torrium2 is what makes a Davey BT or BIT behave the way it does, and it is available separately to fit a compatible centrifugal pump. It reads pressure and flow rather than pressure alone: the pump starts on a pressure drop and stops when flow falls below 0.26 gpm, so a shower gets a steady pressure instead of the sawtooth a pressure switch produces between cut-in and cut-out.

The cut-in point is not a fixed setting. After every stop, Torrium2 sets cut-in to 80 percent of the last shut-off head, so the controller follows seasonal supply variation and a changing system without anyone adjusting it.

Davey publishes one more thing worth knowing on a retrofit: because the internal water pathways are large, Torrium2 costs less head than comparable pressure controllers. On a pump that is already marginal, the controller you fit changes what reaches the fixture.

One unit in place of three. A conventional booster installation needs a pressure switch to start the pump, a pressure tank to stop it short-cycling, and a non-return valve. Torrium2 does the work of all three in one housing on the pump discharge.

That matters most on a retrofit. Where a pump is sound but the switch has failed or the tank has waterlogged, fitting Torrium2 is a smaller job than replacing the set — and it removes the two parts most likely to fail again.

Constant flow operation — Torrium2 senses pressure and flow together. It starts on a pressure drop and stops when flow falls below 0.26 gpm, which is what removes the cycling a pressure switch gives you in the shower.

Adaptive cut-in pressure — Cut-in is set to 80 percent of the last shut-off head, every stop. The controller follows seasonal supply variation and changing demand without anyone adjusting it.

Low head loss — Large internal water pathways mean Torrium2 costs less head than comparable pressure controllers, so more of what the pump makes reaches the fixture.

Adjustable setting range — Settable from 15 psi to 80 psi.

No pressure tank required — The controller replaces the pressure switch and tank in a conventional booster installation.
