The Dresser Style 65 is a complete family of boltless compression couplings and fittings engineered for plain-end steel pipe connections. Using the same time-proven sealing principle Dresser developed in 1891, Style 65 fittings ship fully assembled and ready to use — install them in under a minute with nothing more than a wrench. No threading, flaring, or exact pipe-end preparation required. The connection is also fully demountable for cleaning, inspection, or system modifications.

Style 65 bodies are available in steel and malleable iron; malleable iron fitting bodies conform to ANSI specifications for 150 PSI rated fittings. The gasket retainer ring is made of cold-rolled carbon steel. Dresser Grade 27 Armored® gaskets are standard; Grade 42 Armored oil-resistant gaskets are available for special applications on request. Temperature limit is 150°F for regular couplings — for temperatures 150°F to 350°F, the Style 165 Plus-Temp™ is recommended.

The complete Style 65 line includes regular couplings, long couplings, 90° ells, female adapters, and male adapters, all in sizes 1/2" through 2". Insulating Adapter Gaskets are available for use with Style 65 couplings when connecting dissimilar metals (e.g., steel pipe to copper tubing) to prevent galvanic corrosion.

How It Works

Threaded end nuts (1) screw onto the threaded body (2), compressing resilient gaskets (3) against the pipe (4) to form a flexible, bottle-tight seal. Gasket retainer rings (5) confine and protect each gasket from damage and prevent friction between the gasket and end nut, providing an accurate sense of tightness and consistent sealing performance on every installation. Simply loosen the end nuts, stab the pipe into the fitting, and tighten with a wrench — the connection is complete.
