Watertight aluminum and ABS well caps and vented caps for jet-pump, submersible, and pitless installations. 4 in, 5 in, and 6 in casing sizes plus oversize 6 1/4 in and 6.9 in PVC. Locking models for tamper-resistant installs.
A well cap protects the casing top from rain, snow, insects, rodents, and surface debris. The right choice depends on whether your system needs atmospheric balance.
Sealed · Submersible · Modern Standard
Sealed gasket cap with no atmospheric vent. Standard for submersible installations — the pump pressurizes the system, no atmospheric balance needed. Aluminum or ABS body, neoprene gasket, conduit knockout for power leads. Several with 1 in plug option for vent or future tap.
Atmospheric Balance · Jet Pump
Vented cap with screened ports for atmospheric pressure balance. Required on jet-pump installations and pitcher-pump wells. Screen prevents insect intrusion while allowing air exchange. Aluminum or ABS construction. C-series, K-series, and JC pitless jet caps.
Tamper-Resistant · Commercial / Public
Aluminum locking cap with padlock provision. Required on commercial wells, multi-family systems, and any well where unauthorized access is a risk. Same watertight seal as standard models with added security. LWC6 fits 6 in steel casing.
Custom Imprint · Pitless · PVC
Caps with factory IMP imprint for branded contractor installs. Pitless-specific caps (C5-6U, JC6) with the right contour to seat over a pitless adapter cover. Specialty PVC casing caps (LSW-614, LSW-614V) for non-standard 6.9 in PVC casings — common on irrigation and contractor jobs.
Match cap to casing OD. M suffix = with 1 in plug for vent or future tap. P suffix = ABS plastic. G suffix = galvanized casing match.

A well cap is the surface-level barrier between your drinking water and everything happening above ground — rain, dust, animals, debris.
Submersible pumps pressurize the system from below — no atmospheric balance needed at the casing top. Always specify a watertight cap on submersible wells. Vented cap on a submersible is a contamination path.
Jet pumps draw water up by suction. Without atmospheric balance at the casing top, the casing acts like a sealed container and the suction pressure goes wrong. Always specify a vented cap on jet-pump wells.
The cap typically has a knockout for the submersible power conduit. Seal the conduit penetration with non-shrink grout or compression fitting — an unsealed conduit is the #1 path for surface contamination into the casing.
Set the casing top at least 6 in above grade per most state well codes (12 in in flood zones). The cap is not designed to seal against standing water — if the cap submerges, contamination is virtually guaranteed.
Commercial wells, multi-family, and any well in an accessible area require a locking cap. LWC6 with padlock provision — many state codes mandate this on public water supplies.
The neoprene gasket compresses on first install and never seals as well after removal. Replace the cap (or at minimum the gasket) after every pump pull. A $60–$200 cap is cheap insurance.
Use WT4 aluminum or SCP4 ABS watertight. Pair with SUB4 or PS4 well seal.
Use WTC6 aluminum or WTC6P ABS. WTC6M if you want a future vent/tap option built in.
Use C4A vented aluminum cap. Atmospheric balance is required — do not substitute a watertight model.
Use K-6 vented aluminum or P6 vented ABS for budget jobs. Pair with double-hole well seal.
Use C6 (submersible) or JC6 (jet) — these have the right contour to seat over the pitless cover plate.
Use LWC6 locking watertight aluminum. Required on public water supplies in most states — check local code.
Use LSW-614 or LSW-614V for 6.9 in PVC casing. Standard 6 in caps will not seal — PVC OD is larger.
Use IMP suffix on standard caps (WTC6 IMP, P6 IMP). Factory imprint adds your contractor identifier without aftermarket stickers that fall off.
