The Dresser Style 38 is a bolted sleeve coupling for joining plain-end cast iron (CIP) and ductile iron pipe (DIP) in nominal sizes 14 in and larger. At these diameters the OD variation between legacy cast iron and current ductile iron is small enough that each size is supplied as a single dedicated coupling rather than the wide-range Style 138 design used for smaller diameters.
Style 38 couplings provide flexible, leakproof connections that absorb vibration and accommodate minor pipe movement and angular deflection. Installation requires only a wrench — no threading, beveling, or precise alignment.
