Grundfos TPE3 Inline Variable Speed Pump - Stainless Steel

The TPE3 is Grundfos’s single-head, in-line circulator with the speed control built in: a permanent-magnet MLE motor (efficiency class IE5) with an integrated frequency converter, and a differential-pressure and temperature sensor in the pump. It ships set to AUTOADAPT, which finds the lowest head the system needs and keeps adjusting to it, so the pump runs slower and quieter at part load. This build has the stainless steel (CF8) pump housing and motor stool that Grundfos specifies for domestic hot water circulation. For duty-standby on one pipe, see the twin-head TPE3 D.

Find your model in its pump size, then read across: each figure is the total head the pump adds at that flow on its maximum-speed curve. The TPE3 runs anywhere below that curve: its built-in drive slows the pump to hold the head your control mode asks for.

• Flush the pipe system with clean water before first start, without using the pump to do it.
• Fill and vent the pump before starting, with the vent screw in the motor stool pointing up.
• Where two single-head pumps run in parallel or alternate, fit a non-return valve in series with each pump.
• Above 3,280 ft the motor cannot run at full output; check the derating curve in the data booklet.

The pump is set up and run from its own color control panel, with no app required. Grundfos GO adds guided setup, live operating data, alarm troubleshooting and reports on a smartphone. The panel’s radio button connects the pump to Grundfos GO; Grundfos lists the MI 301 mobile interface as the phone accessory for this. It is sold separately.
