Grundfos MI 301 Bluetooth Mobile Interface for Grundfos GO

Grundfos GO and GO Remote are the apps that set up and monitor a Grundfos pump from a phone or tablet. Neither one talks to a pump directly — the MI 301 is the mobile interface that makes the connection. It pairs to an Android or iOS smartphone over Bluetooth Low Energy, then reaches the pump by radio or by infrared, whichever that product supports.

The module is a pocket-sized unit with a rechargeable Li-ion battery, a single power button and a status LED. Press the button, watch the LED flash blue while it searches and green once it connects, and the app is talking to the pump. It switches itself off when not connected to preserve battery life, and a full charge takes about five hours over the supplied USB cable for a minimum of eight hours of use.

Two connection methods are available in the app. Radio - List scans for every radio-enabled Grundfos product in range and shows product name, pump status, signal strength and whether the product is locked — useful when the pump is buried in a mechanical room or up on a roof. Radio - Connect goes straight to one product for quick, direct access. IR - Connect points the infrared transmitter at the pump's receiver from no more than one metre for products that use infrared.

• Wink command — flashes an indicator light on the pump you have selected in the list, so you know you are looking at the right unit before you change anything.
• Bluetooth Low Energy to the phone — pairs once, then reconnects; no cables between phone and module.
• Rechargeable Li-ion battery — 3.7 V, 500 mAh, minimum eight hours of operating time, charged over USB.
• Automatic power-off — the module switches off when not connected to preserve battery life.
• Status LED — green solid while charging, flashing blue while searching, flashing green when connected, fast flash when nearly discharged.
• Over-the-air software updates — Grundfos GO notifies you when an update is available and walks it through on screen.

The free Grundfos GO app gives you setup, status overviews, technical product information and live operating parameters from an iOS or Android device. The MI 301 is the module that connects the app to the pump: pair the two over Bluetooth once, then reach the product by radio or infrared. Grundfos GO Remote works the same way and is paired under Settings on Android or Remote on iOS.
