Description

The Smith-Blair Style 263 is a multi-band, all-stainless Full Circle repair clamp for large-diameter pipe, 11.04 to 26.90 in OD. It gives a 360° seal and complete leak repair; fabricated stainless lugs and keeper bars pull the clamp around the pipe and close it during installation.

Application: cast and ductile iron, steel, asbestos cement, copper, aluminum, plastic and fiberglass.

12-Month Smith-Blair Warranty

Smith-Blair warrants its products to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of shipment by Smith-Blair. Dated proof of purchase, such as a bill of sale, is required to establish eligibility. Smith-Blair will repair or, at its option, replace a defective product; the product is returned to the factory or warehouse Smith-Blair designates.

Working Pressure

Up to 150 PSI. Smith-Blair rates the allowable working pressure of a repair clamp to fall as pipe diameter rises; for a particular installation it is set by pipe size and type, the type and extent of the damage, service conditions and installation workmanship.

Installation Notes
  • Clean the pipe where the clamp will sit, removing scale, dirt and debris that could spoil the gasket seal.
  • Lubricate the pipe and gasket with a soap-and-water solution that meets the water and pipe supplier’s requirements.
  • Where the pipe ends gap 1 in or more, bridge the gap with a short section of pipe or a thin strip of sheet metal to support the gasket.
  • Where 40% or more of the circumference is broken away, cover the opening with sheet metal and use a clamp that extends 3 in past it on both sides.
  • Tighten from the center nut outward, keeping the clamp centered on the break; finish with a calibrated torque wrench to the torque in the instructions.
  • Anchor the pipe: the clamp seals around it, and Smith-Blair requires proper anchoring to restrain pipe movement and prevent pull-out.
