Well seals are sized to the casing inside diameter (ID). The seal drops inside the casing and its gasket compresses outward against the inside wall (and inward around the pipe) to form the seal. Measure straight across the inside of the casing mouth — not around the outside — and match that measurement to the casing size in the dropdown. Note: standard 6 in steel casing measures about 6-5/8 in across the outside but only about 6 in inside, so it takes a 6 in seal, not a 6-1/2 in. Always size to the inside measurement.
