What Ships and What It Needs to Run

Included: the pump end with its built-in check valve; no motor.

Motor required, ordered separately. A Franklin 6 in or 8 in submersible motor of the same horsepower, per the motor size of the build you select, plus the motor control it needs (control box, starter or drive).

Motor adaptor kit: Franklin lists a 6 x 4 in adaptor kit (305473001) for 10 HP and below SR models on a 4 in motor, and a 6 x 8 in kit (305473002) that must be ordered for an 8 in motor; both are on our couplings and accessories listing.

Drop cable and splice kit: sized to your setting depth and ordered separately.

Overview

The SR Series pumps are designed specifically to meet a variety of applications. With stainless steel impellers and diffusers, a stainless steel shell to maintain alignment, and heavy-investment cast stainless steel suction and discharge brackets, the SR Series pumps are equipped to operate efficiently and handle the most demanding conditions.

This listing is the 316 stainless steel build of the SR Series, for water that is too corrosive for the standard 304 build. Franklin rates the 316 build to 194 °F (90 °C) maximum operating temperature against 140 °F (60 °C) for 304.

  • Stainless steel impellers and diffusers to resist corrosion
  • Heavy-duty stainless steel shell assures permanent alignment of all components to increase longevity and enables higher pressures than strap designs
  • PTFE floating wear ring, ceramic bearing journal, and Nitrile rubber fluted bearing ensure durability against wear for long-lasting performance and reliability
  • Suited to operate in horizontal position
  • Built-in check valve to protect the pump against water hammer

12-Month Franklin Electric Warranty

Franklin Electric warrants its new products to be free of defects in material and workmanship for 1 year from the date of installation or 2 years from the date of manufacture, whichever comes first, when installed in clean, potable water applications. Franklin’s warranty does not cover applications pumping saltwater or other corrosive liquids.

Models & Performance — Will It Do What You Need?

Open your flow class and find the model that matches your build. Total head is the lift from the pumping water level, plus the pressure you need at the top (2.31 ft for every PSI), plus friction in the column pipe. Pick the model whose head at your flow covers that total.

Total head read from the published curves in Franklin’s FPS Submersible Catalog (Mi1007), 6 in and 8 in SR Series section (the 316 stainless builds share the SR hydraulics), digitized and rounded down to whole feet, at the plotted flows nearest 20%, 50% and 75% of where the curves in each class end. Franklin prints no shut-off figure for this series; the 0 GPM column reads each curve at its first plotted point. Franklin prints no output tables for this series. Feet of head = PSI × 2.31.

Best operating range: Franklin shades the recommended operating range on each published curve and prints no figures for it. The curves are in the image gallery.

Before You Buy — The Limits That Decide the Fit
  • Maximum operating temperature: 140 °F/60 °C for 304 stainless steel and 194 °F/90 °C for 316 stainless steel
  • Suited to operate in horizontal position
  • 4 in motor (10 HP and below builds): order the 6 x 4 in motor adaptor kit 305473001
  • 8 in motor: order the 6 x 8 in motor adaptor kit 305473002
Installation Notes
  • Install in a developed well; undeveloped water carries sand that wears the pump.
  • Set the pump suction at least 10 ft below the expected drawdown level and at least 5 ft off the bottom of the well.
  • The built-in check valve sits on the pump; add one above ground, and one in the drop pipe every 100 ft of setting beyond the first 100 ft.
  • Support the riser at the wellhead and keep the cable clear of clamps and the casing while lowering.
