Overview
The FPS IGP-M Series is a submersible grinder pump for the toughest residential and commercial wastewater service, from sewage lift stations to low-pressure sewer systems serving housing developments and lake communities, or anywhere high vertical lift or long force mains are present.
A cutting mechanism on the suction side cuts solids into a slurry at 414,000 cuts per minute, and a seven-vane, angled-face, non-clogging brass impeller passes that slurry through the volute into the discharge line. The 2 HP, 3450 RPM motor has built-in overload protection against over-current and over-temperature damage, a carbon/ceramic mechanical seal and a short, deflection-resistant shaft. The finish is epoxy-coated cast iron.
The M in IGP-M means manual: the start components are mounted outside the pump. Every IGP-M runs from a control panel. Single-phase models need the specific FPS control panel or capacitor kit matched to the pump for proper operation and third-party approval; three-phase models need an approved motor control with overloads set to the pump full-load amps. If you want a pump that runs on its own float with no panel, the IGP-A automatic series is the one to choose.

Growth & Multiplex
Runs as a simplex station from a simplex grinder panel, or as a duplex station with two pumps alternating lead and lag from a Franklin duplex grinder panel, which carries the starting components for single-phase IGP pumps. The IGP-M231-15 is the pump Franklin builds into its simplex and duplex fiberglass grinder packages.

Performance — Will It Do What You Need?
Find your total dynamic head across the top: the vertical lift from the basin to the highest point of the force main plus friction in the pipe. The figure below it is gallons per minute at that head.

Franklin places the IGP series in lower-head service, below about 120 ft of total head. For higher heads it points to the dual-stage IGPH high-head series, which reaches 175 ft on its rated curve.
