Franklin Electric replacement motors are the drivers Franklin lists against its own pumps: JM-frame and JP-frame close-coupled motors for the AG, D, FAC, HC and XS Series end-suction centrifugal pumps, and NEMA 56C, TC and TSC C-face motors for the VR and VRL Series vertical multistage pumps. They are for maintenance crews, contractors, irrigation and water-system operators who need the motor that bolts straight back onto the pump they already own — same frame, same shaft, same rabbet fit.
We supply U.S. 60 Hz builds in every listed horsepower, voltage, speed and enclosure, and our engineering-led selection starts with your old motor nameplate or the pump model code: we confirm frame letters, shaft extension, voltage and service factor against Franklin’s motor tables before you order. Send the nameplate photo to sales@watermainsupply.com or call 1-888.510.4036. Genuine Franklin Electric equipment, factory-new in original packaging — sold and supported by Watermain Supply, an independent industrial supplier.
JM vs JP vs VR Series Motor
The same horsepower can come in three shaft versions. This is the one thing buyers get wrong: ordering by HP and voltage alone.

Quick rule. Read the letters after the frame number. JM goes back on a JM pump, JP on a JP pump, and a C, TC or TSC nameplate on a VR or VRL pump means the VR Series motor listing. Then match HP, voltage, phase, RPM and enclosure.
How to Match a Replacement Motor
A replacement motor is matched, not sized from scratch: the pump already sets the frame, shaft and speed.
1. Read the old motor nameplate
Record the full frame designation including letters (for example 213JM, 184JP, 215TC), motor HP, voltage and phase, RPM, enclosure (ODP or TEFC), service factor (S.F.), full-load amps (FLA) and the motor maker’s catalog number. The frame number sets the bolt pattern and rabbet; the letters set the shaft. A 184JM and a 184JP share a frame size and HP rating range but have different shaft extensions.
2. If the nameplate is unreadable, decode the pump
Franklin model codes carry the motor. On an AG Series pump such as A2256NM-10D2P3, the tail reads 10 HP, D = ODP, 2P = 3600 RPM, 3 = three phase. On a VR Series pump the motor code reads frame letter, speed, efficiency/enclosure and voltage: J6E3 is 10 HP 210TC-family (215TC), 6 = 3600 RPM, E = premium TEFC, 3 = 230/460 V. The pump end code (PE56, PE18, PE21 and so on) confirms the frame.
3. Confirm the shaft and flange
If the old motor is gone, measure the pump: the rabbet (AK) the motor spigots into, and the shaft bore or coupling. Compare with Franklin’s fit codes below.

Source: Close-Coupled AG Series Catalog, Motor Fit Codes with Dimensions. The fit-code table lists 1.250 in for JP-4 while the JP motor tables list 1.625 in for 364JP and 365JP motors; we confirm on the motor drawing. Some AG catalog rows show a different AK on individual motors, so the check on your pump governs.
4. Match voltage, phase and speed
Where two voltages are shown (230/460 V), the first is the factory wiring; voltage is changed on the motor terminal board. The VR Series manual limits supply deviation to 6% of the motor rating. A 208 V building supply needs a motor rated for 208 V; many JM listings are marked 208-230/460 V for exactly that reason.
Worked example
An AG Series A2256NM-10D2P3 pump has lost its motor. The code gives 10 HP, ODP, 3600 RPM, three phase. The AG catalog order table lists this pump with a 213JM motor, fit code JM-2. In the JM listing, the 10 HP 213JM ODP 3600 RPM three-phase motor is EJMM3312T, 208-230/460 V, FLA 26-24/12 A. Shaft check: JM-2 is 0.875 in diameter and 4.25 in long on an 8.5 in rabbet. We confirm against the AG catalog before the order is placed.
Load check on a VR motor: a CEM3711T (10 HP, 215TC, TEFC) is rated 23.2/11.6 A FLA and 27/13.5 A service-factor amps. A measured 12.5 A at 460 V is above FLA (11.6 A) but inside the 1.15 service factor (13.5 A), so the motor is working into its service factor; we would review the duty point against the pump curve.
Part-number cross-reference: one HP, three shafts
Many listed motors share a Baldor catalog number stem; the prefix marks the shaft. Order by the full number on your nameplate.
