Baker Water Systems has been engineering water solutions since 1873. All six series share Baker's core architecture — stainless steel motor, internal check valve, individually tested before shipment. What changes is the construction material, flow class, and whether you're buying a complete pump or a pump end. Match your situation below.
Submersible pump catalogs assume you know the vocabulary. Here's what each term actually means so you can read a curve chart, decode a model number, and order the right pump the first time.
Three constructions of the same proven hydraulic platform — captured stack design, internal check valve, Baker stainless steel motor, and individual factory testing on every unit. Choose by water chemistry, specification requirements, and budget.
The 21000 is the specification-grade potable water pump: the discharge casting and motor bracket are no-lead brass alloy, bracketing the stainless shell with corrosion-proof, lead-free castings. The threaded acetal check valve carries a 400 PSI working pressure and removes easily for service. A rubber discharge bearing surrounds the stainless shaft — self-lubricating, maintaining alignment in the harshest conditions. Peak capacity models at 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, and 25 GPM.
Choose no-lead brass when the project specification or local code calls for no-lead wetted components in potable service, or when you want brass's proven durability at the discharge connection — the point of highest mechanical stress when setting and pulling the pump.
The 22000 is the value line for standard residential wells — reinforced thermoplastic motor bracket and discharge with a built-in guide bearing, wrapped around the same stainless steel shell, stainless shaft, and stainless motor coupling as its stainless siblings. Thermoplastic impellers and diffusers keep cost down without giving up the internal anti-spin check valve or Baker's stage-by-stage factory testing. 1/2 through 1 1/2 HP covers wells serving most households.
Normal water chemistry, well depth within 1 1/2 HP curve range, and a budget-conscious replacement: the 22000 is the answer. If your water is aggressive or sandy, step up to the 23000 stainless — the shell and shaft are already stainless here, but the 23000 hardens every remaining component.
The 23000 hardens the domestic platform for aggressive water and long service intervals: heavy stainless steel shell threaded at both ends for field service, 300-series stainless easy-wrench discharge with a built-in safety eye, stainless motor bracket, and Baker's Diamond Design easy-out check valve — removable for maximum service convenience. The 7/16" 300-series stainless hex shaft is individually measured for straightness. Up to 5 HP reaches deeper set depths than the thermoplastic line.
The 24000 is Baker's most-ordered stainless steel submersible — the default choice for new 4" wells and like-for-like replacements. Stainless steel discharge head with built-in check valve, stainless shaft and coupling, and the captured stack hydraulic design across peak-capacity models at 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, and 25 GPM. From 1/2 HP two-wire units for shallow residential sets to 5 HP three-wire units reaching deep static levels, all on a 1 1/4" discharge.
The High Flow line moves the 24000 platform into irrigation, agricultural, and commercial territory: rated models at 35, 40, 55, 60, and 80 GPM, 1 through 10 HP, on a 2" NPT stainless discharge casting. Construction steps up to stainless steel bowls, Noryl impellers, stainless shell, shaft, screen, and cable guard, with the motor bracket built to NEMA dimensional standards in stainless steel. Delivery reaches 124 GPM and head reaches 1,300 ft at 3,450 RPM.
Above 5 HP, High Flow pumps run three-wire three-phase (230V or 460V) — and every three-phase Baker submersible includes the motor starter kit. Confirm available service voltage before ordering; the model suffix (Z = 230V 3Ph, Y = 460V 3Ph) locks the electrical configuration.
Two more complete-pump lines — motor and leads included, like every Baker submersible — plus a purpose-built bottom suction design for tanks and cisterns that standard well pumps can't match.
The 25000 extends the thermoplastic value platform beyond the 22000's ceiling: the same 5–25 GPM flow classes, complete with Baker stainless steel motor and leads, but sized 1/2 through 2 HP — a half-horsepower more reach than the 22000 for deeper static levels or higher pressure settings on a budget-conscious build.
The 26000 is the flagship construction — the only Baker series where even the impellers and diffusers are stainless steel. 431 stainless shaft, all other metal parts 304 stainless, stainless suction screen, stainless discharge head with built-in check valve, and a motor bracket built to NEMA dimensional standards. Complete with motor and leads, in flow classes at 5, 10, 18, 25, 40, and 70 GPM, 1/2 through 5 HP as stocked (larger available on request). Rated for clean, non-corrosive, non-abrasive liquids to 140°F.
Standard submersibles pull water from above the motor and strand the last foot-plus of tank volume. The Bottom Suction pump inverts that: its intake draws from the bottom of the unit, delivering maximum drawdown without sacrificing longevity — and it passes solids up to 1/8", making it at home in rainwater collection, gray water, filtered effluent, and pond service as well as potable cisterns. Two-wire, 1/2 and 3/4 HP, 115V or 230V, installs vertical or horizontal, CSA listed.

Every complete pump includes the motor, leads, and internal check valve — three-wire single phase adds the control box, three-wire three phase adds the starter kit. Standard power is 230V single phase 60 Hz.

Set the pump below the maximum expected drawdown but keep it up off the well bottom, clear of accumulated sediment. Running a submersible dry or in silt-laden water is the fastest way to destroy an otherwise long-life pump — Baker's captured stack moves sand through, it doesn't make silt immersion acceptable.
Use a proper splice kit on the motor leads, a safety rope rated for the string weight, a torque arrestor on the drop pipe, and a well seal or pitless adapter at the casing. Verify voltage at the pressure switch under load. Line-voltage wiring belongs with a licensed electrician per local code.
Every Baker submersible has an internal check valve at the pump. On deep settings, standard industry practice adds inline check valves in the drop pipe to manage the standing column — tell us your set depth and we'll spec the spacing with the quote.

Baker 4" motors are asynchronous two-pole designs, 1/2 through 10 HP, with 304 stainless steel on every wetted part, a squirrel-cage rotor on a self-centering thrust bearing cooled by a water-glycol mix, and the stator sealed in an airtight 304L stainless can. What arrives with your pump depends only on the wiring configuration:
Every pump carries an internal check valve and a grounded motor lead as standard. Building a custom set? Pumps are available less-box (LB) or less-starter (LS), and Baker's AutoDRIVE VFD delivers constant-pressure control for premium installations — ask when you quote. Standard configuration is always 230V single phase 60 Hz, no suffix letter required.
