The Grundfos CMBE is a compact packaged booster built on the CME horizontal multistage pump with an integrated variable frequency drive. A pressure sensor monitors demand and the speed controller holds a constant pressure in the pipe system, with soft starts and up to 40 percent energy savings from the premium-efficiency IE5 motor. Plug it in, set the pressure on the operating panel, and the system is operational.
Each unit ships as a complete system: five-way fitting with integrated non-return valve, diaphragm tank, outlet pressure sensor and pressure gauge — stainless steel (AISI 304) pump housing, shaft and impellers throughout. CMBE is designed for flooded suction (maximum 3.28 ft of lift; it is not self-priming) and handles liquid temperatures to 140°F. Radio-enabled for Grundfos GO via the MI 301 module.

Grundfos model numbers state nominal flow — the best-efficiency duty in m³/h (a CMBE 1-44 is a 1 m³/h, 4.4 GPM nominal pump). Actual service range extends well beyond nominal: per the manufacturer performance curves and selection charts, the 1-series serves up to about 15 GPM, the 3-series 26 GPM, the 5-series 35 GPM and the 10-54 about 60 GPM at reduced head. Confirm your duty point on the pump curve.

Dry-running protection stops the pump and enters alarm mode on loss of inlet pressure, then attempts 5 restarts at 10-second intervals, 8 restarts at 5-minute intervals, and repeats the cycle after 24 hours. Thermal protection against slow overload and blocking is built into the MGE motor.
