Move septic effluent, greywater, and dewatering discharge to the leach field, drain field, or lift station. The complete Baker DuraMAC effluent pump lineup — thermoplastic and cast iron, ⅓ HP through 1/2 HP, with standard and high-head configurations for lift up to 70+ feet of TDH. Plus Xylem (Goulds) commercial effluent and Davey self-priming alternatives.
Baker DuraMAC for residential septic, greywater, and dewatering. Xylem Goulds for commercial septic systems and lift stations. Davey for tank-fed transfer applications. All authorized dealer pricing with same-day shipping on stocked items.
Effluent pumps move pre-treated water — water that has already passed through a septic tank, filter, or settling basin and is free of large solids. They are NOT sewage pumps. Match your situation below — call 281.664.8000 for free sizing.
Three submersible pump types handle three different liquids. Confusing effluent with sewage is the #1 source of premature pump failure on residential septic systems.
Effluent pumps are designed for water that has already passed through a septic tank or filter — large solids have settled out, leaving only fines. Try to pump raw sewage (toilet waste) with an effluent pump and the pump will clog within hours, the impeller will jam, and the motor will burn out from over-current. The Baker EF series is a ¾" solids pump — that's plenty for septic effluent and far too small for raw sewage. If your application has a toilet upstream of the pump WITHOUT a septic tank in between, you need a sewage pump (5050C SJ series).
Budget-friendly thermoplastic effluent pumps for residential septic effluent and greywater applications where corrosion resistance matters more than maximum durability. Up to ¾" solids handling, ⅓ HP and ½ HP options.
Thermoplastic effluent pumps are the right choice for: clean greywater (showers, laundry, sinks), septic dose tanks with well-functioning upstream filter, and any installation where the chemistry of the effluent could attack cast iron over time. Lower upfront cost, easier handling, corrosion-proof. Baker's thermoplastic effluent line uses the same modern E-Series platform as the 8300 jet pump series.
Thermoplastic wins when: (1) the application is greywater-only (no septic blackwater); (2) the well water has high mineral content that would corrode cast iron; (3) you need lower upfront cost for budget-driven specs; (4) the duty cycle is light (a few cycles per day, not continuous). Cast iron wins when: continuous-duty pumping, septic effluent (some chemistry), high cycle counts, or high-head applications. For most residential septic dose-tank applications: cast iron is the right call.
Cast iron effluent pumps for septic systems, lift stations, and any application requiring continuous-duty performance. Two HP tiers and multiple switch configurations.
| Model | HP | Switch | Cord | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5033CTEF25 | ⅓ HP | Tethered | 25' | Standard residential septic, longer install runs |

Standard effluent pumps deliver design flow at moderate TDH. The "H" suffix variants are re-engineered for installations where the leach field, mound, or sand filter is significantly above the dose tank — situations that would starve a standard pump of flow at the working pressure.
Standard effluent pumps lose flow rapidly above ~25-30 ft of TDH. If your install has: (1) elevated drain field above the dose tank by 10+ feet AND a long discharge run to that field; (2) mound system with significant pressure-distribution losses; (3) sand filter beds requiring 4-5 PSI residual pressure for proper distribution; (4) long horizontal discharge with multiple bends — you need the H variant. Send us your engineered drawing or system specs and we'll size the right pump on the curve.
Commercial and industrial effluent applications, engineered residential systems, and specifications calling for "Goulds or equal" route to Xylem. Same-business-day quote response.
Choose Baker DuraMAC for residential septic systems, mound system retrofits, and same-day install needs. Choose Goulds when: (1) spec calls for "Goulds or equal"; (2) commercial septic / on-site wastewater treatment; (3) engineered system with matched pump-and-control packages; (4) three-phase power required; (5) high-cycle continuous-duty applications. Email sales@watermainsupply.com with system specs and we quote same business day.
Three numbers needed: design flow rate (GPM at the discharge), Total Dynamic Head (TDH), and dosing strategy (continuous vs time-dosed).
| Application | Typical Design Flow | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Residential septic dose tank | 15–25 GPM | Match to drain field design flow |
| Mound system / elevated drain | 25–40 GPM | Pressure-dosed, calculate residual |
| Greywater / dewatering | 10–20 GPM | Lower duty cycle, less critical |
| Multi-unit septic / commercial | 50–100+ GPM | Goulds WS series quote required |
| Sand filter / advanced treatment | 15–30 GPM | Engineer-specified, match exactly |
TDH = Vertical Lift + Friction Losses + Residual Pressure
