Smith-Blair Style 907 Restraint Plate - Carbon Steel, 3-Hole, 4-48 in

The Smith-Blair Style 907 is a three-hole triangular restraint plate (lug) that, with Style 101 tie rods and nuts, restrains flanged piping connections. It fits any style and size of bolted flange and is cut from ASTM A36 or A283 Grade C carbon steel, supplied with a Flexi-Coat fusion-bonded epoxy finish (-000) or bare (-001).

Each flange size carries a matched lug thickness, lug diameter and tie-rod size, and Smith-Blair publishes the number of tie rods to use at each maximum line pressure from 50 to 250 PSI (table below).

Application: restraining flanged piping connections, such as across dismantling joints and flange coupling adapters, 4 to 48 in flange sizes.

PSI columns give the recommended tie-rod quantity at that maximum pressure. T = lug thickness; D = lug diameter. Check lug diameter for clearance over the flange hub.

• Pick the tie-rod quantity from the table for the flange size and the maximum pressure the line will see.
• Check the lug diameter for clearance over the flange hub: some threaded flanges have large-diameter hubs that can interfere with the lug.
• Space the tie rods symmetrically around the flange bolt circle.
• Use the tie-rod size listed for the flange: Style 101 sets, 5/8 to 1-1/2 in.
• Fit the extra nut supplied with each rod as a jam nut.
