The Smith-Blair Style 622 is a fabricated carbon steel tapping sleeve for size-on-size and reducing branch taps on new or existing water mains, 4-30 in runs with 4-12 in flanged outlets. The two-piece body is Flexi-Coat fusion-bonded epoxy coated, with V-lugs, a Nitrile gasket cemented in a machined recess and a 3/4 in test outlet to pressure test before you tap.
This listing carries Type 304 stainless steel bolts and nuts for buried and corrosive service. Choose the run size and measured pipe OD, then the outlet size; the part number follows.
Application: Tapping size-on-size and reducing branch connections and installing valves on new or existing pipe.
Key Features
Included: both sleeve halves with the gasket installed, the bolts, nuts and washers, and the 3/4 in test outlet with plug.
Needed to complete the tap, ordered separately: the tapping valve with its flange gasket and bolts (Smith-Blair recommends a 1/8 in ring-style elastomeric gasket), a tapping machine and shell cutter, and thrust blocking with permanent support under the valve.
Smith-Blair warrants its products to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of shipment by Smith-Blair. Dated proof of purchase, such as a bill of sale, is required to establish eligibility. Smith-Blair will repair or, at its option, replace a defective product; the product is returned to the factory or warehouse Smith-Blair designates.
Up to 175 PSI. Test pressure 262 PSI. The working pressure of any tapping sleeve falls as pipe diameter rises; for a particular installation it also depends on the pipe type and condition, service conditions and workmanship, and never exceeds the rating of the pipe.
