Description

The JCM 419 fabricated carbon steel tapping sleeve makes larger taps on all types of pipe with a built-in range that fits more than one pipe class, so the right sleeve is on hand more often. The heavy steel sleeve reinforces the pipe directly, eliminating flexing opposite the tap, and weighs less than a cast iron sleeve.

A large-section gasket in a retaining cavity makes a positive initial seal that increases with line pressure. The mechanical joint outlet takes an MJ tapping valve, and load-bearing set pins on the gland hold it in line. Choose shop coat with alloy bolts, or fusion epoxy with e-coat or stainless bolts.

Tapping valve and tapping machine, ordered separately. An MJ tapping valve connects to the outlet; size-on-size taps need a 1/2 in undersized shell cutter.

Working Pressure

250 PSI working (300 PSI test) on 4-12 in pipe; 200 PSI (250 PSI test) on 14-24 in pipe and 12 x 12 in with stainless bolts. JCM's service rating; higher ratings are available for specific applications and sizes.
