Description

The JCM 406 is a heavy-duty double strap service saddle for tapping branch connections from 1/2 through 2-1/2 in, supplied with two Type 304 stainless steel straps, with stainless bolts, nuts and washers. A service saddle avoids the problems of direct taps, such as leaking threads or split pipe, and reinforces the connection.

The wide-body wrap-around design and wide straps support the pipe and keep the saddle stable, and the broad pressure-activated gasket, set in a retaining cavity, seals tighter as line pressure rises. Its large sealed outlet area also repairs holes, pin holes and leaking 3/4 and 1 in direct taps.

A fusion-bonded blue plastic coating, 12 mils minimum with over 12,000 volts dielectric strength, adds corrosion resistance in hot and corrosive soils.

Typical application: Branch lines, air valves, service connections, monitors, vents or bleeders and flow sensors.

Key Features

  • Heavy threaded outlet, IP (NPT) or CC thread, reinforces the critical connection
  • Broad pressure-activated gasket bonded into a cavity for low and high pressure
  • Wide straps and closed canted ears for maximum strap bearing
  • Wide-body wrap-around design supports and reinforces the pipe
  • Meets or exceeds ANSI/AWWA C800 as applicable
What Ships and What It Needs to Run

Included: the saddle body with its bonded gasket and two Type 304 stainless steel straps, with stainless bolts, nuts and washers, with nuts and washers.

Corporation stop and tapping, at install. The corporation stop or service fitting threads into the outlet (IP = NPT, CC = AWWA corporation thread), and the main is tapped through it.

Genuine JCM Industries equipment, factory-new in original packaging — sold and supported by Watermain Supply, an independent industrial supplier.
12-Month Warranty

Covered for 12 months from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. Keep the dated invoice as proof of purchase.

Working Pressure

250 PSI working pressure (hydrostatic). JCM rates its service saddles for 250 PSI working pressure when installed per its instructions; higher pressures are available from JCM on request. The contoured gasket makes a positive initial seal that increases as line pressure rises.
