Description

The JCM 164 fabricated lug all stainless steel clamp with extended range, double band construction repairs breaks, splits, cracks and holes in cast iron, ductile iron, IPS PVC, C900 PVC, steel, asbestos cement and other pipe, with all the benefits of stainless: corrosion resistance, light weight, flexibility and strength. JCM recommends it for hot soils and corrosive environments.

The full circumferential gasket makes a complete repair, and the molded-in stainless bridge plate gives a full stainless barrier to aggressive elements. Stainless studs are permanently attached, so there are no loose parts, and the nuts are treated to speed installation and prevent seizing.

A threaded service outlet in the band repairs direct-tap pull-outs and broken or split pipe that needs a service connection. Taps over 1 in need a 12 in or wider clamp.

Typical application: Repair of breaks, splits, cracks and holes in all common pipe types; tapped outlet for service connections and direct-tap pull-outs.

Key Features

  • TIG-welded band-to-lug attachment eliminates mechanical weakness and band separation
  • Thick stainless lifter bar prevents distortion or warping during tightening
  • Thick gridded gasket with long tapered ends and recessed bridge plate seals evenly without wrinkling or crimping
  • Studs permanently attached; nuts treated against seizing
  • Meets applicable portions of ANSI/AWWA C230; certified to ANSI/NSF 61 Annex G and ANSI/NSF 372
What Ships and What It Needs to Run

Included: the tapped clamp with its full-circumference gridded SBR gasket and molded-in stainless bridge plate, and Type 304 stainless studs and nuts attached to the fabricated lugs.

Service fitting, ordered separately. The corporation stop or service fitting threads into the outlet (IP = NPT, CC = AWWA corporation thread).

Pipe anchorage, provided at install. The clamp seals but does not restrain the pipe.

12-Month Warranty

Covered for 12 months from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. Keep the dated invoice as proof of purchase.

Working Pressure

Rated by application. JCM rates the pressure capability of this clamp for each installation, and for higher working pressures the clamp width should equal or exceed the pipe diameter. JCM does not recommend the clamp for joining plain-end pressure pipe. Send us the pipe OD and type and the working and test pressures, and we will obtain JCM's rating.

Before You OrderTapped clamps are non-returnable (JCM). Confirm size, outlet and thread before ordering.
Anchor the pipe: the clamp seals the full circumference but does not hold the pipe against lateral movement, so JCM calls for proper anchorage wherever the pipe could move out of the clamp.
Conductive buttons for electrical thawing, other widths and other ranges are available on request: email sales@watermainsupply.com with the pipe OD, pipe type and line content.
