Description

The JCM 133 is a single-band, all stainless steel universal clamp coupling that gives a full circumferential seal for the permanent repair or reconnection of asbestos cement, cast iron, ductile iron, PVC, HDPE and other pipe. Each clamp covers about 0.40 in of OD range.

Cast stainless steel lugs and a stainless band and bolts make it the choice for hot or corrosive soils and acidic environments, with the same low-profile lug design and sliding fingers as the standard JCM clamp.

A threaded service outlet in the band repairs direct-tap pull-outs and broken or split pipe that needs a service connection, and adds a new outlet in the same fitting.

Typical application: Repair, temporary or permanent, with a service outlet: direct-tap pull-outs, broken or split pipe needing a service connection, breaks, cracks, holes and corroded areas.

Key Features

  • Gridded gasket with long tapered ends and a recessed stainless bridge plate seals evenly over the full range without wrinkling or crimping
  • 1/4 in thick diamond-gridded gasket fills pits and uneven pipe surfaces (JCM standard on larger sizes)
  • Drop-in bolts: bolt, nut and washer stay on the clamp, so there are no loose parts in the trench
  • 3/4 in bolts on 10 in and larger clamps, with bolt torque capability over 100 ft-lb, for repairs beyond the standard installation
  • Meets applicable portions of ANSI/AWWA C230; certified to ANSI/NSF 61 Annex G and ANSI/NSF 372
What Ships and What It Needs to Run

Included: the tapped clamp with its full-circumference gridded SBR gasket and molded-in stainless bridge plate, cast stainless lugs, and Type 304 stainless steel track bolts and heavy hex nuts, assembled as drop-in bolts.

Service fitting, ordered separately. The corporation stop or service fitting threads into the outlet: IP is iron pipe (NPT) thread, CC is the AWWA corporation stop thread. Taps over 1 in need a 12 in or wider clamp.

Pipe anchorage, provided at install. The clamp seals but does not restrain the pipe; anchor it wherever it could move out of the clamp.

12-Month Warranty

Covered for 12 months from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. Keep the dated invoice as proof of purchase.

Working Pressure

Rated by application. JCM sets the pressure-holding capability of its universal clamp couplings for each installation rather than as one catalog figure: it depends on pipe size and type, the type and extent of the damage, line content, temperature and installation. JCM recommends the 12 in width for repairs above 150 PSI working pressure and on larger sizes. Send us the pipe OD and type, the damage, and the working and test pressures, and we will obtain JCM's rating and a submittal for your application.

From the JCM tapped outlet clamp ordering guide. The smallest clamp tapped is 2.38 in OD.

Before You OrderConfirm the pipe OD before ordering: measure it with a pipe OD tape and choose the range that contains it.
Tapped clamps are non-returnable (JCM). Confirm size, outlet and thread before ordering.
Anchor the pipe: the clamp seals the full circumference but does not hold the pipe against lateral movement, so JCM calls for proper anchorage wherever the pipe could move out of the clamp.
