Dresser Ultra-Sleeve Bell Joint Repair Sleeve - Ductile Iron

The Ultra-Sleeve encloses a leaking bell joint, coupling or asbestos cement collar in two pieces with preinstalled side gaskets, so the main stays in service and no bolted end gland is needed.

Application: Bell joint, coupling and collar leak repair on CIP, DIP, PVC and AC water mains.

Working pressures up to 200 PSI, tested to 300 PSI; the rating depends on size.

• On a blowing leak, reduce the line pressure first; a severe leak keeps the gaskets from sealing.
• Grind off raised lettering on the pipe, then clean and descale the sealing area.
• End gaskets ship for the low range; tear out the inner layer for the upper range, the same on both ends. The layer cannot be put back.
• On ductile iron, pit cast and AC, lubricate the pipe and gaskets with NSF 61 silicone; on PVC, HDPE and steel, lubricate the gaskets and shell only, not the pipe.
• Mate the shell ends with matching yellow markings, fit the test plugs or valves and check for leaks before backfilling.
• Touch up any coating damage with two-part epoxy.
