What Ships and What It Needs to Run

Included: the cast iron submersible pump with its float switch (tethered or vertical, per the model) and the power cord, 10 ft or 25 ft per the model.

Float or control required on No Switch models, ordered separately. The CUSP models run from a piggyback float such as the DuraMAC replacement float switch, or from a control panel.

Sized at install: basin, check valve and discharge pipe, ordered separately.

Overview

With a rugged cast iron construction, the DuraMAC cast iron sump pumps handle up to 46 GPM (3/10 HP), 60 GPM (1/3 HP) and 70 GPM (1/2 HP). Each lifts water up to 25 ft of vertical height through a 1-1/2 in discharge.

Which switch fits your pit? A vertical float rides up and down on a rod beside the pump, so it works in narrow basins. A tethered float swings on its cord, so it needs more room but gives a longer run between starts. No-switch models run from a separate piggyback float or a control panel, the usual choice when a basin already has its own controls.

  • Split capacitor motor — continuous duty and thermal protected.
  • Impeller — non-clogging stainless steel on the 3/10 HP models; clog-resistant on the 1/3 and 1/2 HP models.
  • 25 ft cord models — for basins far from an outlet.

Outgrow It and You Don’t Replace It

Single pump. Two pumps in one basin need a duplex alternating control panel; send us the basin and we size it.

Gallons per minute at each total head, as printed by A.Y. McDonald. Total head is the vertical lift from the water level to the highest point of the discharge, plus pipe and fitting friction. A dash is a head the pump does not reach. Source: A.Y. McDonald Pumps by Baker catalog, rev 3/26, pp. 294, 295, 297 and 298. The 5030CTSP25 and 5033CTSP are new 7/1/26 price-list models; their figures are those of the same-HP pumps on the catalog pages.

Reading it: at 10 ft of total head the 1/3 HP models move 50 GPM; at 20 ft they move 15 GPM. Lift and pipe friction both count toward total head.

Before You Buy — The Limits That Decide the Fit
Water Clear water and groundwater with small solids (see Solids in the table). A.Y. McDonald lists these pumps as non-potable.
Lift Up to 25 ft of vertical height. Read the performance table at your total head, not at zero.
Basin Vertical-float models suit narrow basins; tethered floats need room to swing. Pedestal and pre-plumbed kits are on separate listings.
Check valve Fit a check valve on the discharge so the pipe does not drain back into the pit after each cycle.
Power 120V single phase, 60 Hz. Plan a dedicated outlet within cord reach.
Duty Split capacitor motor, continuous duty, thermal protected.
Pairing Single pump. For a duplex basin, two pumps run from an alternating control panel.
