Built by Haight Pump, a division of Baker Manufacturing — the same family as Baker Water Systems. Rugged internal-gear positive-displacement pumps for hot cooking oil, lubrication, fuel transfer, and viscous process fluids. Sized roughly 1 to 240 US gpm, with pressures to 600 psi and high-temperature builds.
Haight Pump is a division of Baker Manufacturing Company of Evansville, Wisconsin — the same long-established manufacturer behind the Baker Water Systems line we already carry. Since 1972, Haight has specialized in one thing and done it exceptionally well: rugged, reliable rotary gear pumps for moving difficult, viscous, and high-value fluids.
These are positive-displacement internal gear pumps — a fundamentally different machine from the centrifugal and submersible water pumps that make up most of our catalog. Where a centrifugal pump spins water, a Haight gear pump captures and carries a fixed volume of fluid with every revolution, delivering steady flow against pressure even with thick oils and lubricants. Haight's flagship reputation was built in hot cooking oil filtration for commercial kitchens, and the same core design now serves lubrication, fuel transfer, chemical, and industrial process duty worldwide.
A positive-displacement internal gear pump — not a centrifugal. Understanding the difference is the key to knowing where Haight fits.
A Haight pump uses two meshing gears inside a precision housing. As the gears turn, fluid is trapped between the gear teeth and the casing, carried around, and pushed out the discharge. Because a fixed volume moves with every revolution, flow stays nearly constant regardless of discharge pressure — and unlike a centrifugal pump, performance actually improves as the fluid gets thicker. That makes gear pumps the right tool for oils, lubricants, fuels, adhesives, and other viscous media that centrifugal pumps handle poorly.
Haight builds its pumps around an involute internal-gear design (the larger sizes use a "gear-within-a-gear" geometry for quiet, smooth flow), housed in ductile iron, running on self-lubricating grammix iron sleeve bearings with no ball bearings to fail. Pumps run at standard motor speeds with no pulleys or gear reducers, and close-couple directly to NEMA-frame motors on bolt-on brackets that eliminate shaft alignment and shimming.
| Characteristic | Centrifugal Pump (Goulds, Flygt, Godwin) | Haight Gear Pump (Positive Displacement) |
|---|---|---|
| Flow vs Pressure | Flow falls as pressure rises | Near-constant flow regardless of pressure |
| Best Fluids | Thin, clean, water-like liquids | Viscous fluids — oils, fuels, lubricants, adhesives |
| Effect of Viscosity | Efficiency drops sharply | Efficiency and sealing improve |
| Self-Priming | Generally no | Yes |
| Metering / Dosing | Imprecise | Precise — volume per revolution |
| Typical Duty | Water transfer, circulation, dewatering, wastewater | Oil and fuel transfer, lubrication, filtration, injection |
A specialist line, not a generalist. Haight owns a niche and extends into broad industrial fluid handling.
The flagship market is hot cooking oil. For more than fifty years Haight has been a recognized leader in pumps for filtering and transferring hot frying oil in commercial kitchens — fast food, casual and family restaurants, bakeries, donut and snack producers, and oil rendering. The E-Series is NSF approved and found in hundreds of thousands of foodservice installations worldwide. If a customer needs to move or filter hot oil, Haight is a first-call brand.
The broader market is industrial viscous-fluid handling. The same gear-pump platform — under the DIU "Universal" series — covers lubrication systems, fuel and bulk transfer, filtration, refrigeration, chemical and polymer injection, marine, paper, mining, and API-type petroleum service. With material and seal options for temperatures to roughly 625°F and pressures to 600 psi, Haight reaches duties that standard water pumps cannot touch.
For Watermain Supply, Haight is an industrial line, not a waterworks line. It complements rather than competes with our Xylem, Goulds, and Flygt centrifugal pumps — different fluids, different physics, different customers. It shares a manufacturer with our Baker Water Systems products, and it points squarely at the industrial process market.
From a 1 gpm hot-oil pump to a 240 gpm bulk-transfer unit — one gear-pump platform, many configurations. All DIU-series pumps are interchangeable with earlier Haight D & DR series.
Hot Cooking Oil — NSF Approved
The flagship foodservice line, proven since 1972. Compact, durable, NSF-approved gear pumps for filtering and transferring hot frying oil. Motor options with UL, CSA, or CE approval; RoHS compliant. A selection of internal gear designs tuned to specific operating characteristics.
Compact Industrial Transfer & Lube
Seven sizes of the "Universal" gear pump for close-coupled or direct motor mounting. Involute gear design for excellent suction and low bypass, grammix iron bearings, and Buna-N lip seals in the quick-change UniverSeal design. Optional bolt-on relief valve, return-to-suction or return-to-tank.
Mid-Flow Industrial Gear Pumps
Six sizes in the square-flange configuration with bolt-on relief valve and field-reversible seal vent. NEMA-matched footed brackets eliminate pump/motor shimming. Optional bearing and seal materials for high-temperature and high-pressure service.
Two Pumps, One Compact Unit
Five sizes of dual-pump assemblies for high combined flow in a compact, low-shear, low-noise package. Close-coupled to eliminate gearboxes and coupling alignment. 300# ANSI flange and NPT connections, reversible flow, ductile-iron construction.
Bulk Transfer — Up to 240 gpm
The large-flow extension of the Universal design, using a quiet "gear-within-a-gear" internal geometry. Close-coupled direct drive to 1800 rpm, 250 psi discharge capability, and 300# ANSI inlet/outlet flanges. Fewer moving parts for reduced maintenance and wear.
Built to the Fluid, Not Off the Shelf
Nearly every Haight pump can be configured for the fluid and duty. We help match elastomers, rotor, bearings, seal type, and drive to your application.

The design choices that make a Haight pump rugged, serviceable, and easy to mount.
Involute internal gears (gear-within-a-gear on large sizes) deliver steady flow against pressure, excellent suction, and low internal bypass — ideal for viscous fluids.
Runs at standard motor speeds with no pulleys or gear reducers. Bolt-on NEMA-matched brackets eliminate shaft alignment, shimming, and coupling failures.
Buna-N lip seal in a quick-change UniverSeal housing — simple, fast field replacement, or swap to an alternate seal type without redesign.
Self-lubricating sleeve bearings mean no ball bearings to fail and no alignment or tolerance-stacking issues — fewer wear points, longer life.
Rugged Ductile 65 iron housing with steel shaft and pinion for cost-effective, durable service in demanding industrial duty.
Bolt-on integral relief valve, field-convertible between return-to-suction and return-to-tank, protects the pump and downstream system.
Viton, Teflon, Kalrez, EPDM elastomers; Delrin/PTFE rotors; bronze/Vespel bearings; mechanical or sealless magnetic drive for aggressive or high-temperature fluids.
DIU "Universal" pumps drop in for earlier Haight D & DR series — a straightforward replacement path for existing installations.
