Why GLT416

Most light towers are commodity equipment. GLT416 is built to Godwin's industrial-fleet standards — same orange paint, same field-tough construction, same 24/7 reliability standard.

Single-Person Deployment

Manually-deployed mast extends and rotates — one operator can set up and break down. No assist required.

Four-Point Outrigger

Stable in 65+ mph winds. Engineered footprint resists tip-over even in gusty conditions — critical for hurricane staging and storm response.

60-Hour Run Time

30-gallon fuel tank with ~0.5 GPH consumption rate. Two-day unattended operation per fueling.

Start-Limit Main Breaker

Prevents start-up under load — protects ballasts and lamps from voltage transients during engine start.

Auto-Shutdown Protection

Low oil pressure and high engine temperature auto-shutdown protect the generator from operator inattention.

Industrial-Grade Construction

14-gauge tubular steel frame — same fleet-rental durability standard as the Godwin pump line.

GLT416 Notes

GLT416 is essentially configuration-fixed — the unit ships as a complete trailer-mounted package. Common considerations:

Available Configurations

  • Lamp type. Metal halide standard. LED retrofit available on request for longer lamp life and lower power draw.
  • Trailer registration. DOT-compliant lighting and brakes standard. Specify state for tag/title processing if required.
  • Cold weather. Standard unit suitable to ~ -10°F. For colder climates, block heater and battery warmer add-ons recommended.
  • Auxiliary outlets. 120 V auxiliary outlets standard for site tool / equipment power up to ~3 kW load (limit set by generator capacity not consumed by lamps).
  • Multi-unit deployment. For sites requiring more than 5–7 acre coverage, multi-unit deployment with overlapping illumination patterns is the standard approach.
  • Spare lamps / ballasts. Recommend stocking 2–4 spare lamps per unit — metal halide lamp life is typically 6,000–10,000 hours; ballasts last considerably longer.

Light Tower Applications

GLT416 covers virtually every temporary site lighting requirement — construction, emergency response, security, and event lighting.

Construction Site Lighting

Night-shift work areas, parking, equipment staging, perimeter security.

Hurricane / Storm Response

Staging areas for utility crews, debris removal operations, temporary command posts.

Pump Operation Lighting

Illumination of pump installations, hose runs, and discharge points during night operations — paired naturally with Godwin pump rentals.

Event / Public Service

Temporary lighting for outdoor events, accident scenes, search operations.

Industrial Turnarounds

Refinery / chemical plant turnaround lighting, scaffolding work areas, night-shift maintenance.

Security / Perimeter

Construction site perimeter, equipment staging areas, temporary facility security.

Light Tower FAQ

How does light tower coverage work?
GLT416 illuminates approximately 5–7 acres at minimum useful light level (~ 0.5 foot-candle perimeter). Useful work-area lighting (5–10 foot-candles) covers a smaller area, roughly 1–2 acres centered under the tower. Coverage drops with mast height — full 30-ft extension is required for advertised coverage.
How long can it run unattended?
60 hours per fuel tank, so roughly 2.5 nights of dusk-to-dawn operation. Auxiliary fuel tanks or daily fueling extend operation indefinitely. For multi-week deployments, daily fuel service is the norm.
Will it survive a hurricane?
GLT416 is rated for 65+ mph wind with outriggers deployed and mast extended. For Cat-2+ hurricane conditions (greater than 110 mph), retract the mast and shelter the trailer. The generator itself is robust — the mast and lamps are the weak points in extreme wind.
LED conversion?
Metal halide is the standard configuration. LED retrofit kits are available — lower power draw (extends run time per tank), longer lamp life, instant-on. LED is increasingly the spec for new units — ask if LED is preferred.
Can I rent instead of buy?
Light tower rental is widely available through Xylem TotalCare and other rental fleets. Watermain Supply sells new units for fleet additions, permanent installations, and applications where rental economics don't make sense (long-duration projects, repeated use). We're happy to refer rental inquiries.
