Godwin Heidra hydraulic submersible pump with diesel power pack

Why Heidra

Hydraulic submersibles solve the problems that surface-mounted pumps can't: deep sumps, restricted access, high-lift applications, and noise-sensitive sites.

Unlimited Suction Lift

Pump goes in the sump; power pack stays on the surface. No NPSH constraint, no suction-side cavitation.

Remote Power Pack

Diesel or electric power packs (GHPU10–GHPU90) located up to 130 ft from the pump. Surface-mounted for easy refueling and service.

Vortex Impeller Option

150V variants feature semi-recessed vortex impellers for sewage and large solids handling up to 5 in.

Slurry Gate Models

SG variants (100SG, 150SG, 200SG, 300SG) include slurry gate for abrasive / dense slurries and sludges.

Independent Bearings

Pump bearings are independent of the hydraulic motor — motor reliability isn't affected by pump-side loads.

Double Mechanical Seal

Carbon upper face / silicon-carbide lower face. Designed for continuous immersed operation in abrasive service.

Heidra Configuration Options

Heidra configuration is driven by the application — fluid characteristics, depth, and access constraints determine the right combination.

Available Configurations

  • Pump end variant. Standard (open impeller), Vortex (V — large solids), Slurry Gate (SG — abrasive sludges), or Flygt N-Technology (NC — stringy material).
  • Power pack drive. Diesel (Tier 4 Final, integral fuel tank, trailer-mounted) or electric (230/460 V, skid base).
  • Hydraulic hose runs. Standard hydraulic hose runs up to 130 ft pump-to-power-pack. Custom longer runs available with adjusted hydraulic flow calculations.
  • Wetted parts. Standard cast iron; stainless steel and CD4MCu available for chemical / corrosive service.
  • Mounting / lifting. All Heidra models include lifting eyes for crane / chain-hoist deployment into sumps. Heidra 300 (2,080 lb) requires substantial lifting capacity.
  • Power pack enclosure. Open set or Critically Silenced (~69 dBA at 30 ft) on diesel power packs.

Heidra Applications

Heidra is the right answer when surface-mounted pumps can't reach or can't fit.

Deep Sump Dewatering

Pit, vault, or wet-well depths beyond 28 ft suction lift. Heidra deploys in the sump; power pack stays accessible.

Restricted-Access Sites

Tight manholes, vaults, or industrial pits where a trailer-mounted CD pump won't reach. Heidra fits where surface pumps don't.

Slurry & Sludge Transfer

SG variants for tank-bottom sludge removal, lagoon dewatering, mining slurry transfer, oilfield drilling mud.

Lift Station Service

Temporary replacement during lift station rehab — Heidra drops in the wet well, runs from a generator-powered electric power pack.

Marine / Dock Drainage

Hull dewatering, dock pit drainage, jetting operations — anywhere a surface pump can't access the fluid.

High-Head Pit Dewatering

Heidra HH (high-head) variants combine submersible deployment with HL-class TDH for deep mines and quarries.

Heidra FAQ

When do I choose Heidra over a CD pump?
When suction lift exceeds 28 ft. CD pumps can't prime past 28 ft of vertical lift; Heidra has no such limit because the pump goes in the fluid. Also choose Heidra when access constraints prevent placing a surface pump near the sump, or when the sump is in a confined space where exhaust / noise from a surface diesel is unacceptable.
What's the difference between V (Vortex), SG (Slurry Gate), and NC variants?
V (Vortex) — semi-recessed impeller passes large solids (up to 5 in) but at reduced efficiency vs. closed impeller. Best for large-debris sewage. SG (Slurry Gate) — incorporates a slurry gate for abrasive service, protecting impeller from solids damage. Best for sand, grit, mining slurries. NC (Flygt N-Tech) — self-cleaning impeller for fiber/rag-laden wastewater. Best for modern municipal sewage with wipes.
Diesel power pack or electric — how do I decide?
Diesel for portable / temporary / remote installations and emergency response. Electric for permanent / semi-permanent installations where 230/460 V three-phase power is available, or for indoor / noise-sensitive sites. Diesel power packs include integral fuel tanks for unattended overnight running.
How far can the power pack be from the Heidra pump?
Standard hydraulic hose configurations support up to 130 ft (40 m) pump-to-power-pack distance. Longer runs are possible with engineered hydraulic flow calculations — longer runs increase hydraulic friction loss and reduce pump efficiency. We size the hose run as part of every Heidra quote.
Can I rent a Heidra setup instead of buying?
Heidra rental is available through Xylem TotalCare — they maintain Heidra rental fleets nationally. Watermain Supply sells new Heidra equipment for permanent installations, fleet additions, and applications where rental economics don't make sense (long-duration projects, repeated use, or specific configurations not in rental fleets). We're happy to refer rental inquiries.
