Controls Configuration Notes

Controls are sized and configured per pump and application. The most common configurations:

Available Configurations

  • PrimeGuard 2 (Diesel Pumps). Standard on all Godwin diesel-driven Dri-Prime pumps. No upcharge for the controller itself — included with pump.
  • FST Remote Monitoring. Subscription-based service with cellular or satellite hardware. Included with DBS systems by default; optional add-on for other installations.
  • Manual Control Panel. Lowest-cost electric pump starter. No remote capability. Best for attended / on-site operation. Up to 60 HP.
  • Auto Control Panel. Auto start/stop via input contacts (floats, pressure switches, remote signals). Best for unattended permanent installations. Up to 200 HP.
  • VFD Panel. Variable speed for energy-efficient duty point matching. Required for any flow-modulation application or where soft-start is needed. 20–400 HP.
  • SCADA Integration. Engineering-led integration with utility / facility SCADA. Standard protocols supported. Specify SCADA platform at order.

Portable Diesel Pumps

What is PrimeGuard 2?
PrimeGuard 2 is Godwin's microprocessor-based engine control system for diesel-driven Dri-Prime pumps. Fully programmable with inputs from level transducers, pressure switches, or floats. Enables auto start/stop with no operator intervention. Standard on all current Godwin diesel pumps.
Do I need Field Smart Technology (FST)?
FST is essentially mandatory for DBS backup systems and high-value remote installations. For portable / attended pumps, FST is optional but valuable for fleet operators tracking run hours and unscheduled faults across multiple units. Cost is justified by reduction in unplanned site visits.
Manual, Auto, or VFD control panel — how do I decide?
Manual = attended operation only, lowest cost, up to 60 HP. Auto = unattended operation with start/stop via input contacts, up to 200 HP. VFD = variable-speed operation, soft-start, energy-efficient duty matching, 20–400 HP. For any permanent installation, Auto or VFD is correct — Manual is for portable / attended service only.
Can I retrofit FST to an existing Godwin pump?
Yes. FST is a standalone monitoring package that can be retrofitted to existing Godwin equipment. Hardware install is typically half a day; cellular service activation is straightforward. Contact us for retrofit quotes on existing fleet equipment.
What SCADA protocols are supported?
Standard industrial protocols including Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, and others. PrimeGuard 2 includes serial and Ethernet communication options. Integration with major SCADA platforms (Wonderware, Rockwell, Siemens, etc.) is standard — specify your SCADA system at order so we can configure communications accordingly.
