What Ships and What It Needs to Run

Included: the 24000 Series J - 5 GPM pump end with its built-in check valve.

Motor required, ordered separately: a Baker 4 in motor of the same horsepower. Part numbers for the 230V motors are in the motor table under Models & Performance.

And the motor’s control: two-wire motors need none; single-phase three-wire motors need a control box; three-phase motors need a starter kit.

Overview

The 24000 Series J - 5 GPM pump end is the hydraulic end of Baker’s 24000 Series 4 in submersible pump, sold without the motor. It mounts on a NEMA 4 in Baker motor of the same horsepower, to build a new pump or rebuild one in the field.

The discharge casting, check valve, bowls, shell, shaft, cable guard and NEMA motor bracket are stainless steel; the impellers are Noryl. Each pump carries a code with its model, date of manufacture, motor HP and GPM, so a replacement can be matched in the field.

This listing covers 1/2 to 1 1/2 HP (4 models), all with a 1 1/4 in NPT discharge.

Genuine A.Y. McDonald equipment, factory-new in original packaging — sold and supported by Watermain Supply, an independent industrial supplier. Watermain Supply is an Authorized Stocking A.Y. McDonald and Baker Water Systems Distributor.
A.Y. McDonald Limited Warranty

Covered for 2 years from the date of manufacture or 1 year from the date of installation, whichever comes first, under A.Y. McDonald’s standard limited warranty for Baker products.

Room to Grow

One pump end per motor. Need more head later? Step up in horsepower within the J - 5 GPM class with the matching larger motor. Need more flow? Move to a higher flow class of the 24000 Series; every class uses the same 1 1/4 in NPT discharge, so the drop pipe connection stays the same.

Models & Performance — Will It Do What You Need?

Find your horsepower in the row, then read across. Total head is the lift from the pumping water level to the discharge, plus the pressure you want at the tank (2.31 ft for every PSI), plus friction in the drop pipe.

Total head in feet · curves end at 8.5 GPM

HP 0 GPM (Shut-off) 1.5 GPM 4 GPM 6.5 GPM 8 GPM
1/2 HP 376 ft 342 ft 258 ft 146 ft 65 ft
3/4 HP 481 ft 446 ft 343 ft 188 ft 70 ft
1 HP 641 ft 593 ft 456 ft 250 ft 92 ft
1 1/2 HP 822 ft 769 ft 602 ft 337 ft 131 ft

Read from the published curve in the Pumps by Baker catalog (Sept 2025, rev 3/26), p. 68, digitized and rounded down, at the flows nearest 20%, 50% and 75% of the curve’s 8.5 GPM end. 0 GPM is the printed shut-off. The last column is the last flow every curve reaches; the curve ends are named in the table title.

Output tables as printed in the Pumps by Baker catalog (Sept 2025, rev 3/26), pp. 67-68, at the 30 and 50 PSI rows. Riser-pipe friction is not included (manufacturer note): add it for long or small drop pipe. — marks a point A.Y. McDonald does not print for that horsepower.
