Overview

The 45VR is a vertical multi-stage centrifugal pump from the Franklin Electric VR Series, used for water supply and pressure boosting, water treatment, light industry, irrigation and agriculture, and HVAC. In-line suction and discharge connections with round flanges keep the installation compact on a small footprint.

This size is the G version: cast iron casing and upper flange with 316 stainless steel hydraulics. 30, 45, 65 and 95VR pumps carry two rotatable steel flanges with oval-shaped bolt holes that fit both DIN and ANSI flanges. The pump end mounts a standard NEMA motor on an oversized thrust bearing, so special high-thrust motors are not required.

  • In-line suction and discharge with round ANSI flanges for a compact footprint
  • NEMA motor mounting with an oversized thrust bearing in the pump end: no special high-thrust motor needed
  • Silicon carbide/graphite/EPDM Type 1 cartridge seal
  • Three-phase motors are premium efficiency and inverter-duty rated
  • NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 certified
What Ships and What It Needs to Run

Included: the complete pump with its Baldor motor, assembled and ready to pipe.

Companion flanges, starter or drive, and piping: ordered separately; companion flanges adapt the round flanges to threaded pipe.

Genuine Franklin Electric equipment, factory-new in original packaging — sold and supported by Watermain Supply, an independent industrial supplier.
1-Year Franklin Electric Warranty

Covered by Franklin Electric’s limited warranty for 1 year from the date of original purchase by the consumer (VR Series manual 106821101).

Single Unit

One pump per duty. The 45VR runs at 3,600 RPM; the 45VRL Vertical Multistage Pump uses the same hydraulics at 1,800 RPM for about half the flow and a quarter of the pressure per stage. For duplex to sextuplex pressure boosting on one skid, see the VR SpecPAK booster systems.

Performance — Will It Do What You Need?

Pick the horsepower, then the stage count that gives the pressure you need at your flow. Pressure in the tables is what the pump adds to its inlet pressure; total discharge pressure is inlet pressure plus the table value.

Digitized from the published 45VR curves in the Franklin Electric VR Series Catalog Mi9041, p. 44 (vector data), and rounded down; feet of head = PSI × 2.31. Each curve was read on the feet scale and checked against the metric scale of the same chart (within 3%). Franklin prints no head or flow table for the VR Series, so the curve is the source. Curves end at 342 GPM. The 0 GPM column is the shut-off pressure, the most the pump can add to its inlet pressure. Bold = the last point on that model’s curve. — = beyond the end of that model’s published curve.

Before You Buy — The Limits That Decide the Fit
Pressure Inlet pressure plus the shut-off pressure (0 GPM column) must stay within the 230 PSI (PN16) or 460 PSI (PN25/40) flange rating of your build
Suction Available NPSH must exceed the pump’s NPSH required at your maximum flow (curve pages in the catalog)
Liquid Ratings are for clean water, +14 to +248 °F; ask us before ordering for another liquid, viscosity or specific gravity
Power See the HP - Voltage selector; the starter or drive is not included
Flanges Companion flanges are required to adapt to threaded pipe and are ordered separately
Rotation Clockwise looking down from the top; check three-phase rotation before running
