Overview

VersaBoost Pro is a complete constant-pressure system rather than a pump you build one around. Inside it is a Franklin Electric encapsulated 4 in submersible pump-motor assembly — the same construction Franklin puts down wells — driven by a Franklin-engineered variable frequency drive, with an integrated check valve and expansion tank already in the package.

Franklin lists it for city water pressure boosting, constant pressure on private well systems, pressurizing from cistern tanks above or below the system input, re-pressurizing after filtration, and hydroponic or irrigation boosting.

Two things make it different from most boosters this size. It is quiet — as low as 45 dB, with rubber feet damping vibration, which matters when the unit sits in a laundry or a retail back room. And it scales: up to four units link wirelessly in parallel, with no controller and no rewiring, so a building that outgrows one pump adds a second rather than replacing the set.

Genuine Franklin Electric equipment, factory-new in original packaging — sold and supported by Watermain Supply, an independent industrial distributor.
36-Month Warranty

Covered for 36 months from the date of purchase. Franklin Electric publishes a three-year warranty for VersaBoost Pro on its own product literature, which is the term that applies here.

Four Units, Wirelessly, in Parallel

Up to four VersaBoost Pro units scale wirelessly into one multi-pump system. No control panel, no rewiring, no PLC — the units talk to each other. Buy one now and add units as the building grows, which is the opposite of the usual booster decision where the pump count is fixed at purchase.

More pumps also hold more pressure at the flow the building actually draws. Each unit carries a share of the water, so each sits higher on its own curve. The figure that does not rise is the maximum output pressure, fixed at 80 psi by the pump.

Franklin publishes no combined performance table for a grouped VersaBoost Pro, so size a multi-pump set against the system curve rather than by multiplying a single-unit maximum.

Performance — Will It Do What You Need?

Franklin publishes VersaBoost Pro as a pressure-against-flow envelope rather than a point table. Both models hold a flat 80 psi from zero flow out to roughly 8 gpm, then fall away as flow rises.

Model Pressure range Flat to Maximum flow Maximum system pressure
VersaBoost Pro — FE-VBPRO-115 / -230 14 – 80 psi approx. 8 gpm at 80 psi 18 gpm 100 psi
VersaBoost Pro XT — FE-VBPROXT-230 14 – 80 psi approx. 9 gpm at 80 psi 25 gpm 100 psi

Pressure added at flow, from the Franklin VersaBoost Pro curves:

FE-VBPRO-115 / FE-VBPRO-230 — 80 psi maximum boost

Flow — GPM 0 5 10 12 15 18
Pressure Added — PSI 80 80 70 60 40 10
Pressure Added — ft of head 184.8 184.7 161.7 138.6 92.4 23.1

FE-VBPROXT-230 — 80 psi maximum boost

Flow — GPM 0 5 10 15 20 25
Pressure Added — PSI 80 80 78 65 45 10
Pressure Added — ft of head 184.8 184.7 180.1 150.1 103.9 23.1

Drawing from a cistern or storage tank — nothing arrives with pressure, so what the unit makes is what you get, and it will lift 25 ft to reach a tank below the system input.

Fed by a city main — the drive holds the pressure you set, anywhere from 14 to 80 psi, and only works as hard as it has to. Where the main already delivers part of what you need, the same unit reaches that setting at a higher flow. Incoming pressure buys you more flow, not more pressure.

Best operating range: below roughly 8 gpm the unit holds its full 80 psi; past that, pressure falls with flow. This is where the pump turns the most electricity into water pressure. Ask for more flow than it can deliver at your setting and it runs at full speed continuously, which is where motors and seals wear out. Sizing a booster to the building rather than to the headline numbers is what makes it last.

Figures read from the published performance envelope in the Franklin Electric RLC Surface catalog M5049. Maximum flow and maximum output pressure are Franklin’s tabulated figures; the flow at which each model leaves its flat 80 psi region is read from that chart and is approximate. Before You Buy — The Limits That Decide the Fit
Maximum system pressure 100 psi. Incoming plus added must stay below it — on a strong main the 80 psi setting is not available to you.
Suction lift To 25 ft, which is unusual at this size and is the reason this unit suits a below-ground cistern.
Power 120V single phase on the FE-VBPRO-115; 208-240V on the other two. Not field-convertible.
Water temperature To 104°F. Ambient 33°F to 122°F.
Best operating range Full 80 psi to roughly 8 gpm; 18 or 25 gpm maximum depending on model.
Pressure tank Integrated check valve and expansion tank included. On any system with a storage water heater a separate thermal expansion tank is still required at the heater.
Pairing Up to four units, wirelessly, in parallel. No controller or rewiring needed.
Installation NEMA3R rated for indoor or outdoor. Rubber feet damp vibration; removable top, front and rear covers give access to all components without disturbing the plumbing.

Set Up & Monitor From Your Phone

VersaBoost Pro is compatible with FE Connect for onsite connectivity and troubleshooting, enhanced with the One-to-One real-time remote feature. The unit is equipped with Bluetooth and WiFi and delivers customizable updates and notifications.

Setup runs through an easy-to-navigate assistant, either on the unit’s own display menu or in the app — so a commissioning visit is a phone and a few minutes rather than a laptop and a manual.
