Description
The Smith-Blair Style 101 is an alloy steel all-thread tie rod and nut set, sold as one rod and four heavy hex nuts, for restraining flanged piping connections with Smith-Blair Style 907 restraint plates. Rods are ASTM A193 Grade B7 with rolled threads for thread accuracy and a smooth finish; nuts are low-alloy steel heavy hex to AWWA C111/ANSI A21.11.
Five rod sizes, 5/8 to 1-1/2 in, each in six lengths from 18 to 48 in. The rod size follows the flange size in the 907 restraint plate chart, and the number of rods follows the maximum line pressure.
Application: tie rods for Style 907 restraint plates across flanged joints, such as dismantling joints and flange coupling adapters.

Smith-Blair warrants its products to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of shipment by Smith-Blair. Dated proof of purchase, such as a bill of sale, is required to establish eligibility. Smith-Blair will repair or, at its option, replace a defective product; the product is returned to the factory or warehouse Smith-Blair designates.
Working Pressure
Sized for the line pressure. Smith-Blair sets the number of tie rods by flange size and maximum line pressure, 50 to 250 PSI, in the Style 907 restraint plate chart; the rod size for each flange is below.

Installation Notes
- Use the rod size the 907 chart gives for the flange, and the rod quantity for the maximum line pressure.
- Space the tie rods symmetrically around the flange bolt circle.
- Check the 907 lug diameter for clearance over the flange hub before fitting rods.
- Run the extra nut on each rod as a jam nut.
