Description
The Smith-Blair Style 923 Flange-Lock is the fabricated steel adapter body of a Flange-Lock flanged coupling adapter, sold on its own: an AWWA C207 Class D flange on one end and a mechanical joint (MJ) flange on the other. Combined with a standard MJ restraint gland, MJ gasket and T-bolts, it makes a restrained flanged coupling adapter that joins plain-end PVC, steel or ductile iron pipe to flanged fittings, valves, meters and equipment.
Smith-Blair pairs it with the Cam-Lock 111 gland for ductile iron and steel pipe or the Cam-Lock 120 gland for PVC. The flange size equals the nominal size: a 6 in body has a 6 in flange. In 3 to 10 in, one body covers both pipe ODs of its size, for example 4.50-4.80 in. Choose the nominal size and OD in the first option; the part number follows.
Application: the flanged body for a restrained flange x MJ connection to plain-end pipe, used with an MJ restraint gland, MJ gasket and T-bolts.

What Ships and What It Needs to Run
Included: the adapter body only — the epoxy-coated carbon steel sleeve with its Class D end flange and MJ flange welded on.
Needed to complete the joint, ordered separately: an MJ restraint gland (Cam-Lock 111 for ductile iron and steel, 120 for PVC), an MJ gasket, and T-bolts and nuts per AWWA C111, plus the gasket and bolts for the flange joint. By itself the body does not couple, seal or restrain; ask us to quote the gland and kit with it.

12-Month Smith-Blair Warranty
Smith-Blair warrants its products to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of shipment by Smith-Blair. Dated proof of purchase, such as a bill of sale, is required to establish eligibility. Smith-Blair will repair or, at its option, replace a defective product; the product is returned to the factory or warehouse Smith-Blair designates.
Working Pressure
Up to 150 PSI with the standard Class D flange. The finished joint is rated no higher than the restraint gland and the pipe it is installed on; for any installation, allowable pressure also depends on service conditions and workmanship.

Pipe Applications
PVC, carbon steel and ductile iron pipe: ductile iron ODs 3 to 48 in and IPS ODs 3 to 12 in. The restraint gland sets the pipe type: black-wedge Cam-Lock 111 on ductile iron and steel, red-wedge Cam-Lock 120 on PVC in SDR 26 or heavier wall.

Installation Notes
- Inspect the shipment for transit damage and confirm the body is the correct type and size for the application.
- Install the restrained flanged coupling adapter per the restraint manufacturer's instructions and the applicable portions of the latest edition of AWWA C111.
- Restrain or anchor the pipe: the 923 body by itself does not restrain pipe movement, and Smith-Blair requires proper anchoring to prevent pull-out.
