Overview

UNILIFT KP is designed for liquid transfer and drainage of clean or slightly dirty wastewater with the pump completely or partly submerged in the liquid. It suits drainage of flooded cellars or buildings, pumping of domestic wastewater without toilet waste, emptying of pools, tanks and vessels, and pumping within agriculture, the dairy industry, horticulture and the process industry.

The pump is a single-stage, submersible, stainless-steel drainage pump in a robust design with an upward-pointing discharge port placed on top of the pump. Water enters through the holes of the suction strainer, which prevents the passage of large solids. The sturdy impeller has single-curved vanes with bevelled front edges that prevent fibres from jamming the impeller. The guide vanes in the pump housing guide the liquid, lifting sand grains into the liquid flow and so preventing blocking by sand.

The pump sleeve is made in one piece. The mains cable enters through a vulcanized and water-tight plug, secured to the socket of the hermetically sealed stator housing. The motor is a single-phase asynchronous canned motor with a liquid-filled rotor chamber and water-lubricated bearings, cooled by the pumped liquid around the motor. It incorporates automatic overload protection: on overload the motor stops and, once cooled, restarts automatically.

Maximum particle size is 0.4 in. Liquid temperature range is 32 °F to 122 °F, with 158 °F permitted for periods not exceeding two minutes at intervals of at least 30 minutes. Maximum installation depth is 30 ft below liquid level. The pumps are suitable for temporary as well as permanent free-standing installation and are not designed for continuous operation.

Grundfos publishes this overview as a guide only. If a non-return valve is fitted, deduct approximately 0.6 ft of head from the vertical pipe length. Measure the vertical height of the discharge pipe from the pump stop level. A dash means Grundfos publishes no figure for that model at that lift.

Flow velocity through the outlet pipe must be at least 2.3 ft/s to keep the line self-cleaning. A Schedule 40 PVC outlet pipe with a 1.38 in inner diameter needs roughly 12 gpm to achieve it. Across the KP range Grundfos publishes a maximum flow of 65 GPM and a maximum head of 32 ft; both belong to KP 350 and are range ceilings, not a single duty point.

Where two voltages are shown, the first is the factory wiring setting. Voltage is changed on the motor terminal board, never at the pressure switch. All models are single phase unless the table states 3Ph.

Before You OrderThese are manual pumps — nothing turns them on and off by itself. If the pump will run unattended in a collecting well, budget for a float switch or a level switch and control box, and allow minimum well dimensions of 14 in across by 16 in deep so a float can swing freely. During operation the inlet strainer must always be completely covered by the liquid, and the pumps are not designed for continuous operation.
