What This Is

A CR pump end is an entire Grundfos vertical multistage hydraulic assembly — pump head, base, chamber stack, impellers, shaft and cartridge shaft seal — supplied without a motor. It is what you order to rebuild an existing CR installation, to re-stage a pump whose duty has changed, or to build a pump onto a motor you already have.

The pump head and base are cast iron; the chambers, impellers, shaft and sleeves in contact with the liquid are AISI 304 stainless. The layout is in-line: suction and discharge sit on the same centreline at the same height, so it drops into a straight pipe run.

This listing covers the CR 10 frame in 2 in ANSI 300 lb flanged and 2 in oval flanges, NPT female. Choose the connection with the seal in the variant selector — the two builds differ in port size, pressure rating and shipping weight, and the table below sets them side by side.

The two builds are not interchangeable in the field: the connection is cast into the pump head and base, so a pump end ordered in the wrong style will not bolt to existing pipework. Match it to what is already installed.

The motor rating and NEMA frame are the motor this pump end is built to accept. No motor is supplied. Stage count is the second number in the model — more stages means more head at the same flow without changing the footprint.

Shaft Seal Options
  • HQQE — silicon-carbide faces, EPDM elastomers, -4 to 248 °F liquid range.
  • HQQV — silicon-carbide faces, FKM (Viton) elastomers, -4 to 194 °F liquid range.

Both are cartridge seals: the seal is replaced as a complete unit without dismantling the pump or setting faces by hand. In the Grundfos code the last letter is the elastomer — E = EPDM, V = FKM (Viton). If you are pumping water, HQQE.

A pump end carries no maximum ambient temperature, because there is no motor to rate. The ambient limit comes from whichever motor you fit.

What Is Supplied

Pump end only: pump head, base, chamber stack, impellers, shaft, sleeves and the cartridge shaft seal, factory assembled. Oval flanges are included on the NPT build.

Not included: the motor, the coupling and coupling guard, the motor stool where one is required, controls, starters, drives, base plates, foundation bolts and isolation valves. If you need a complete pump, order the CR complete-pump listing instead and we will quote it against the same duty.

Before You OrderConfirm three things: the model and stage count against the duty you need, the motor frame and coupling against the motor you intend to fit, and the connection — the 2 in ANSI 300 lb or 2 in NPT builds are not interchangeable in the field. Send us the duty point and the existing pump nameplate and we will confirm the part number.
