Overview

Grundfos GTXA tanks absorb the thermal expansion of potable hot water in commercial water heater and storage systems. When water is heated it expands; on a closed system (backflow preventer or check valve on the cold supply) that expansion has nowhere to go, and pressure climbs until the relief valve opens. The GTXA takes the expanded volume into its bladder and keeps system pressure below the relief setting.

Water stays inside a replaceable heavy-duty butyl bladder (NSF/ANSI 61, FDA approved) and never touches the steel shell. The full tank volume is available as acceptance. Tanks are ASME built and ship pre-charged at 40 PSIG; set the pre-charge to the incoming water pressure before filling.

What Ships and What It Needs to Run

Included: the GTXA tank with factory-installed bladder and charging valve.

Ships: about 40-1,525 lb by model, by LTL freight to a commercial dock; liftgate or residential delivery is a paid checkout option. Larger tanks ship on their own skid or base ring.

Needed to install: isolation valve and drain at the system connection, a pressure gauge or tire gauge to set the pre-charge, and a level floor or pad rated for the full-of-water weight.

Before You Buy — The Limits That Decide the Fit
Pressure Relief valve setting at or below 150 PSI.
Pre-charge Set equal to the static supply pressure at the tank before filling.
Sizing From the heater and piping volume, the cold and hot temperatures, the supply pressure and the relief setting.
Liquid Potable water.
Applications

Commercial domestic hot water heaters and storage tanks, booster heaters, and any closed potable hot water system with a backflow preventer, check valve or pressure-reducing valve on the cold supply.
