Configuration Notes
Hose and accessory selection is driven by application — fluid characteristics, pressure, and connection compatibility:
Selection Guidelines
- Suction vs. discharge. Suction hose is fully vacuum-rated (won't collapse under negative pressure). Discharge hose is pressure-rated only. Don't substitute discharge hose for suction service — it will collapse and lose prime.
- Pressure rating. Match hose pressure rating to maximum pump pressure plus a safety factor (typically 1.5x). High-head HL pumps require correspondingly higher-pressure hose.
- Connection style. Godwin Quick Disconnect (QD) for fastest setup, cam & groove for industry-standard compatibility, flanges (150 lb / 300 lb) for permanent / high-pressure service.
- Fluid compatibility. Black rubber for water / sewage / oil. XLPE for chemical service. PVC for agriculture / irrigation. Stainless braided for high-temperature service. GPL pump body alone isn't enough — verify hose chemistry too.
- HDPE for permanent installations. When discharge run is permanent or extends weeks/months, HDPE pipe with fused joints is more economical and reliable than long hose runs.
- Lengths. Standard 10-ft and 20-ft. Custom lengths add lead time but eliminate field-fitting waste — specify total run when ordering.

Hose & Accessories FAQ
What's the difference between Godwin QD and cam & groove fittings?
Godwin Quick Disconnect (QD) is faster to connect/disconnect (lever closure ring vs. cam-lock arms), more durable in field service, and supports up to 30° angular deflection per joint. Cam & groove is the broader industry standard — compatible with virtually any rental fleet or site equipment regardless of brand. We supply hose with either; specify based on what your existing equipment uses.
When should I use HDPE pipe instead of hose?
Three triggers point to HDPE: (1) Run length exceeds 200 ft (hose friction loss becomes significant). (2) Installation duration exceeds 30 days (hose UV degradation and abrasion become factors). (3) Operating pressure approaches hose limits. HDPE is more upfront cost but lower lifecycle cost for permanent or long-duration installations. We can supply pipe and on-site fusion service.
Do you provide on-site fusion service?
Yes. On-site polyethylene pipe fusion service is available with expert fusion technicians as operators. Capable of fusing pipe diameters up to 36 in. Recommended for any installation over 200 ft of HDPE pipe — eliminates joint failure risk that comes with mechanical couplings.
What size pipe plug for sewer bypass?
Match plug size to actual pipe ID, not nominal pipe size. Inflatable plugs are sized 5 to 60 in to cover the full range of municipal sewer pipe. For active flow conditions, use flow-thru plugs (allow controlled bypass through the plug). For complete stoppage, use no-flow plugs. Specify pipe ID, fluid pressure, and whether bypass-thru capability is required.
Can I order custom hose lengths?
Yes — custom lengths are standard. Specify total length, fitting type at each end (QD, cam & groove, flange), and any specific configuration requirements. Custom lengths add 1–2 weeks to typical lead time but eliminate field-fitting waste.
