Dri-Prime HL Series

Godwin HL SeriesMedium Volume · High Head · Single-Stage Impeller

When the application needs serious head. The HL series delivers up to 640 ft TDH with a single-stage impeller — no staging required. Standard models for high-rise dewatering, pressure boost, jetting, and long discharge runs; Extreme High-Head variants for the most demanding lift duties.

Why HL Series

When CD-series head ratings aren't enough, HL takes over — with Dri-Prime self-priming and solids-handling intact.

Single-Stage Up To 640 ft

HL delivers high head with a single-stage impeller — simpler than multistage pumps, lower NPSH-required, and easier to maintain.

Solids Handling Preserved

Up to 2½ in spherical solids on Extreme High-Head models. High-head dewatering pumps don't have to be clean-water-only.

Dri-Prime Auto-Priming

Same proven Godwin priming system as CD: 28 ft suction lift from dry, no foot valve, run-dry capable.

Pressure Boost Capable

Use HL as a booster pump in series with CD-series suction. Common in long discharge runs and high-rise construction.

Jetting Applications

High pressure makes HL ideal for hydraulic jetting, well-point system charging, and pipeline cleaning.

11 Models Total

7 standard HL models (HL80M–HL250M) plus 4 Extreme High-Head models (HL110M–HL260M) for specialized applications.

HL Series Models & Specifications

Diesel-driven specifications shown. All models also available in electric drive. Extreme High-Head models reach 600–640 ft TDH at the cost of flow capacity — spec carefully against your duty point.

HL Series Configuration Options

HL pumps share the CD platform's configuration flexibility, with high-head specific options:

Available Configurations

  • Drive type. Diesel (Tier 4 Final, integral fuel tank for overnight running) or electric (230/460 V three-phase up to 600 HP, VFD-compatible).
  • Wetted parts. Standard cast iron, 316 stainless steel, or CD4MCu duplex for chemical / high-pH service.
  • Impeller. Cast steel open impeller standard. Hard iron / high chrome available for abrasive jetting service.
  • Mounting. Highway trailer for HL80M / HL100M only — larger HL frames are skid-mounted due to weight.
  • Enclosure. Open set or Critically Silenced sound-attenuated enclosure (recommended for urban / pressurized residential applications).
  • Controls. PrimeGuard 2 standard. FST remote monitoring optional. VFD recommended on electric HL units to optimize duty point matching.
  • Pressure rating. HL discharge ratings extend up to 260 psi on extreme high-head models — specify discharge piping accordingly (Schedule 80 or higher).

HL Series Applications

HL pumps shine in head-dominated applications where CD-series pumps run out of pressure capability.

High-Rise Dewatering

Pumping construction water from deep excavations or high-rise foundations to street-level discharge. HL150M / HL225M are workhorses here.

Pressure Boost

Series-installed booster on long discharge runs. Pair with CD suction-side pump for combined capacity / head.

Hydraulic Jetting

Pipeline cleaning, sewer jetting, irrigation system flushing. HL125M / HL130M typical.

Mine Dewatering

Deep-pit and underground mining with significant vertical lift requirements. HL250M / HL260M for high-volume deep applications.

Long Discharge Runs

Cross-country sewer bypass with significant elevation gain. HL series sustains pressure where CD would cavitate.

Fire / Emergency Service

Temporary high-pressure firewater supply, foam system charging, emergency hydrant boost.

HL Series FAQ

When do I choose HL over CD?
Choose HL when your total dynamic head exceeds approximately 200 ft, when you need significant pressure (greater than 80 psi) at the discharge, or when your discharge run is long enough to consume head through friction loss. CD covers most flow-dominated applications; HL covers head-dominated applications.
What's the difference between standard HL and Extreme High-Head?
Extreme High-Head models (HL110M, HL130M, HL160M, HL260M) sacrifice flow capacity to reach 600–640 ft TDH. Standard HL models top out around 500 ft TDH. If your application is pure pressure-boost duty (high lift, modest flow), Extreme High-Head is purpose-built. If you need balanced flow and head, standard HL is more efficient.
Can HL pumps handle solids?
Yes — Godwin preserved solids-handling capability across the HL line. Standard models handle 1 in to 2½ in spherical solids. Extreme High-Head models handle smaller solids (⅞ in to 1⅜ in) due to tighter impeller clearances required for high pressure.
What discharge piping should I spec for HL pressure?
For standard HL service (under 200 psi), Schedule 40 steel or 200-psi HDPE is acceptable. For Extreme High-Head service approaching 260 psi, Schedule 80 steel or pressure-rated HDPE (DR9 or heavier) is required. We include piping recommendations with every HL submittal.
Why is HL more expensive than CD at similar HP?
HL impellers, casings, and seals are engineered for sustained high-pressure operation — thicker castings, premium seal arrangements, more robust bearings. The price reflects the materials and tighter manufacturing tolerances required to deliver 600+ ft TDH reliably.
