Pump sitting above the water? The Workhorse is an end-suction centrifugal — it runs best on a flooded suction or with a foot valve. If the pump must lift and self-prime from a pond, tank, or shallow source, choose the self-priming 8900 E-Series Sprinkler Pump.

Overview
The A.Y. McDonald 92000 (single-phase) and 93000 (three-phase) Workhorse is a heavy-duty end-suction centrifugal pump built to cover an unusually wide range of duties from one platform — booster systems, farms, light industry, lawn sprinkling, irrigation, air conditioning, cooling-tower circulation, and general water transfer.
Eight single-phase sizes and six three-phase sizes span 1/3 through 3 HP, so the pump is matched to the duty instead of the duty forced onto the pump. A precision-molded Noryl impeller (no-lead bronze available), NEMA square-flange motor, and cast-iron casing deliver dependable pressure to 150 ft of head. Rear pull-out construction services the motor and impeller without disturbing the suction or discharge piping. For non-potable service only.

Suction & Priming — Read Before Installing
The Workhorse is an end-suction centrifugal pump, not a self-priming pump. Install it with a flooded suction (pump at or below the supply level) or with a foot valve and a primed suction line. If the installation requires the pump to lift and prime itself from an open source, select the self-priming 8900 E-Series Sprinkler Pump instead.
